AUG 21: JOHNB’S RACING TIPS AND CHAT

RacingTips_WH

JOHNB enjoyed a 2pt profit on Thursday thanks to the joint nap and NB’s victory at York – and he’s hoping to repeat the feat today.

Our man, who is now 44.96pts up for the month, says: “Same time, same place and same amount of horses declared as today’s NAP/NB race, so can we get the same result? Well Chancery was my choice as my second best bet of the York meeting.”

Johnb’s Friday Tips

York 1:55
Chancery 7-1 NAP/NB William Hill (double stake)

Sandown 2:55
Rocket Rob 7-2 William Hill

Rookie, yeah I know there often seems to be a problem away from wifi. Perhaps the football tag caused some problems but I checked the site on 4G on my phone all day and the thread was fine for me. Will let admin know some folk have been having bother.

John Gosden is keen to run Golden Horn in the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes ahead of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe granted suitable conditions following his shock defeat at York on Wednesday.
The Newmarket trainer admitted he got the tactics wrong by not making the most of supplemented pacemaker Dick Doughtywylie as Arabian Queen stunned the Knavesmire crowd by getting the better of the Derby and Eclipse winner by a neck.
Gosden will now prepare his star three-year-old for the Group One over a mile and a quarter at Leopardstown on September 12.
“He’s absolutely fine. He ate up last night,” the trainer told Racing UK.
“He got set alight a little bit early and a bump from his pacemaker didn’t help.
“If we could ride the race again we’d probably do it differently, but I wish to take nothing from the winner.
“She was gutsy, classy, handled the ground and stuck her neck out and made use of every ounce of that 5lb allowance.
“The pacemaker set a steady pace and we should probably have sat behind that, but now it’s too late.
“We’ll go to the Irish Champion with him and let’s hope it doesn’t rain too much. Leopardstown is a lovely track and it drains very well.
“I don’t want to leave a long gap top the Arc, having missed the King George – and I’m glad I didn’t run him there over a mile and a half on that ground.
“Having missed that the key thing is to have continuity between his races and the Irish Champion is where we go.”

15:05 York -also thinking Bossy Guest might do well as an EW bet at least. recent form: 3-14338 C1. Charles Bishop has got the best out of this horse, although he was also the jockey who finished 8th last time. De Sousa now at the reigns…

  35. Luke A 1 year ago

I’m not so bad thanks mate. Would be better if I got more than 3 hours sleep before work though. Still, I’ll be back by 2 and hopefully get to watch first race at York, which of course I’m hoping Johnb has the winner! Although yours looks quite interesting in the same race. Of your 3, which do you fancy the most? I personally like them in the order they race in. I’m assuming you see something in Aktabantay that most others wouldn’t? Although the return to 7f may see a return to some kind of form

Robbo, I tried to post earlier but the comment wouldn’t publish…
you mention yesterday’s run from Easton angel as a reason why you don’t fancy Acapulco later today. However, what you may like to consider is that the race at Royal Ascot was run over 5f. Yesterday Easton Angel ran over 6f. At the 1f pole it looked the likely winner, until fading badly. I’m not sure yesterday’s run is a good guidance to sway people off of Acapulco today, as Acapulco is again running at the shortest distance!
    Just food for thought.

  136. shelly 1 year ago

i wouldnt put george buckell on a rocking horse he didnt have a about what was under him there

  137. Duncan Poundcake 1 year ago

Boz ,sometimes Timeform are a bloody joke,to rate Golden Horn within 5 and 7lbs of the 2 best flat horses(Frankle and Brigadier Gerard) I have seen in my time is nonsense,

  138. Jimron 1 year ago

Duncan I think on another day goldie would of won but I do agree time form are crying out for the next frankel he is not in the same league! Having been there myself when frankel fell out of the stalls on ground he hated at champions day and to watch him come round that bend get the after burners on was pure class! I know his previous races get the plaudits but the way he went round that bend eye balling everyone he could was brilliant was a very emotional day! Hope his off spring have the same arrogance and class!

  139. Duncan Poundcake 1 year ago

If Golden Horn wins the Arc he can sit alongside Sea the Stars ,all about opinions though GL.

  140. Jimron 1 year ago

If golden horn wins the arc I’ll be fuming as I’ve sold the Arc to the misses as history being made with treve and as she has always backed treve blind( knows nothing about horse racing still think it’s a bloke) I just tell her when she’s running! So we’re off to Paris so I hope golden horn doesn’t run with the soft ground

  141. dougiec 1 year ago

    Well done Kev.great to hear.

  142. Jimron 1 year ago

Well done kev nice drift aswell

  144. Stromy9262 1 year ago

Jb well done ew on all today and the ew double keep up the good work

  145. Duncan Poundcake 1 year ago

Kirby down to 1lb above his minimum for King Bolete is a worry but I and others were very taken with Al lto ,hope he is just a late developer ,where does 10 lengths Behind Golden Horn and Storm the Stars put him now ?.I know I’ve mentioned Nearly Caught but maybe Mr Carpet could tell us something about Toe The Line ,plot?

  146. Duncan Poundcake 1 year ago

Rookie ,I always think Cumani is worth following ,but I’m not living in a big house and driving a Porsche GL.

  147. LM/C 1 year ago

    Sandown 1.45 talmada
    York 2.35 wonder laish

  148. Jimron 1 year ago

In fairness it’ll be worth a little 1-2 on the fun Mac Arab dawn horses for the sake of a few quid!
