WE'VE all been looking forward to the start of the English season but it hasn't quite gone to plan with Chelsea on Saturday and Arsenal on Sunday slipping up.
Arsenal's defeat at home to West Ham was the shock of the day and beat my Top Treble after wins for Celtic and Aberdeen.
I put up two Super Singles and both were losers – Leigh Griffiths to score for Celtic and Stoke not to lose at home to Liverpool.
My only winner of the day was a goals double – over 2.5 goals at AZ-Ajax and both to score at Newcastle v Southampton. I was pleased to mention the bet Greg Browning's always on at St James' and once agin there was a late strike.
As I was working on Saturday night I hd no time to research the European games and maybe that was just as well with the likes of hot favourites Lyon, Bordeaux, St Etienne, Anderlecht, Benfica and Legia Warsaw all failing to win. I'm sure some of those would have been among my picks if I had got to round to it.
There are a few games to focus on tonight but only one big one – West Brom v Man Cty. With only Man Utd of the teams expected to finish in the top four winning on the opening weekend can City follow them in or will the Baggies pull off a shock.
With Raheem Sterling hoping to shine on his competitive debut it's hard to see past the Blues although Sergio Aguero's absence is a shock.
I've advised Aguero to score at evens with Ladbrokes as a Super Single but surprisingly he's not starting with Wilfried Bony given the nod.
If you've backed Aguero with Ladbrokes and he comes and doesn't net the bet's a loser. For the stats I'm on Aguero but maybe it could be Sterling's night and I'm now advising him is 12-5 at 888sport to net. Win or lose it won't be in the stats.
The last four meetings between the teams have gone over 2.5 goals – over 3.5 at The Hawthorns for the previous two – and that looks on again with WBA bringing in Rickie Lambert to support Saido Berahino. Over 2.5 goals pays 3-4 at Ladbrokes and Berahino is 16-5 at Ladbrokes to score.
In Germany there are four first-round cup clashes and team news for these will be vital. Borussia Moenchengladbach are 8-15 with Ladbrokes to win at St Pauli and should do so if they field a strong side.
Likewise RB Leipzig should take care of an Osnabruck one side below them. RB won all six season friendlies and gave started the season with a win and a draw. They are 8-11 at Ladbrokes.
Fans of the Dutch second tier have two games and there are some Scandinavian matches to consider too. Of the two games in Holland the one most likely to go over 2.5 goals is Jong PSV v Go Ahead Eagles and that returns 7-10 at BetVictor.
There is a big Stockholm derby with second-placed Djurgarden travelling to fifth-placed AIK. Something has to give here with Djuragarden unbeaten in 15 and AIK yet to lose at home.
Both sides are in good form and interestingly both have scored in the last five meetings between the sides so I'm on that at 13-20 with Ladbrokes.
Our old friend Henok Goitom has slammed in six goals in four matches and is 11-2 at Coral to score first and 6-4 at bet365 to net and both are worth a look.
I wasn't going to put up a treble but with some points in the bag I'll risk 1pt on Man City to win, Moenchengladbach (and that's without seeing team news) and both to score at AIK-Djurgarden.

Supertipper. Can you share some of your secrets? I started betting middle of last season and initially did quite well. Then i continued to bet in the summer and lost everything i won. I mainly bet on favourites at home but lately they always fall flat. Arsenal and chelsea would be a good example of the type if bet i go for. Usually ending in a draw. If i go for goals in play they usually dry up instantly. Any general advice is welcome as at the moment everything i touch turns to shit.

Moving forwards I am only playing the following max each day
1st bet 3 points normally at 2.0 odds
2nd bet 2 points roughly at 3.0 odds
3rd bet 1 point roughly at 5.0 odds
4th bet 1 points roughly at 1.5 odds and try and roll over 7 times for 17 points ish
Will play bet 1 and 4 everyday but only bet 2 and 3 when it feels right.
