IT was a night of tight games, cup shocks and losers for me.
Both of my trebles were beaten by one – Ludogerets on the CL bet and East Fife not scoring on the
btts treble.
A shock defeat for Dundee and surprise draw for St Johnstone downed the
Betfred fivefold and Dundee also put paid to the Super Single.
There are another three
Betfred ties tonight with Hamilton looking the pick of the bunch at Edinburgh City.
And in the
Champions League qualifiers all eyes will be on Celtic as they face a daunting trip to Kazakhstan for a meeting with Astana. Remember this kicks off at 3pm BST and I've posted a separate preview.
Other CL ties include Fenerbahce v Monaco, Rosenborg v APOEL and Trencin v Legia Warsaw. Apart from possibly Olympiakos at home to Hapoel Beer Sheva, and even then it's the Greeks' first competitive game, the ties look tough to call.
Rosenborg have won their last 12 home games and are in good form so should see off an APOEL side who struggled past Welsh minnows TNS. Legia are fairly experienced in the Champions League now but Trencin are a team on the up and it won't be easy on their plastic pitch.
It might bet better to go with goals in the CL qualifiers and I've picked two I like. Start with both to score at Astra v Copenhagen where the debutants from Romania face a Danish side who have several campaigns behind them.
Astra last four
Europa League ties last against West Ham and AZ totalled 15 goals and they conceded four in the league to Dinamo Bucharest at the weekend. Copenhagen fired nine past Crusaders in the last round and while this is a huge step up they know the way to goal.
Add Trencin v Legia which should be a close contest. I expect the Poles to score on the counter but the home side are likely to bag one as they have a bit of quality up front.
I thought about Monaco or Monaco draw no bet against a Turkish side who have failed to score in their last four CL outings but again I'm put off by it being the French side's first game so they could start slowly.
Instead I'm completing the treble with Hamilton -1 at Edinburgh. Accies have been boosted by the signing of ex-Celt Massimo Donati who netted on his debut in a 3-0 win against St Mirren on Saturday and they should make light work of SPFL new boys City who have lost both their games although they put up a decent fist of it at Ayr at the weekend.
So let's start with a Super Single and I'm on a double – Astana draw no bet and Hamilton. Astana should win but I'm keeping the draw on side as it's likely to be tight as almost all the first legs were last night.

Absolutely astounded by the fact that Juventus have stumped up the release clause to acquire Gonzalo Higuain (£75 million WTF) Why do they need him when they have thee exceptional Paulo Dybala up top and great backup options in Mandzukic and Zaza.dont think any 28 year old is worth that money (except Lionel Messi of course). Looks like they will run away with the Serie A title yet again coz nobody can compete with them, a bit like how rampant Celtic are in the Scottish Prem year after year (Things may change this season though – Rangers look in good shape) Dont think any 28 year old is worth that money (except Lionel Messi of course). Bit annoyed coz I had a decent wager on Higuain to stay at Napoli and have got it completely wrong. Makes the fee speculated for Pogba and his agent look a complete bargain – Raiola only wants 20 million euros, pay the poor bugger with pennies and get the transfer done.

GOIÁS VS. LUVERDENSE (23.15 KO):
Luverdense’s BTTS record sits at just under 50% over their last 15 games which isn’t amazing but couple that with Goias’ figure approaching 70% of their last 15 BTTS and we may have something.
In fact Goias’ have seen BTTS in each of their last 4 with match goals totalling 3-6-4-3.

Nice one Hull!
Fenerbahce – Monaco
– 8 years away from this last game in Champions League , Fener hopes to break the series and qualify this year. The odds were not very good with they, in the third round they will meet the toughest opponent possible;
– last season, yellow-blue road in League stopped in the third round ,after a draw (0-0) in Istanbul, the Turks were defeated by Shakhtar Donetsk 0-3, two seasons ago, their previous approach of entering into groups was denied in the playoffs, where they succumbed 0-5 on aggregate against Arsenal;
– the team coached by Vitor Pereira brought in this summer major players such as Martin Skrtel, Roman Neustaedter or Van der Wiel free transfer, departures Brazilian Diego went to Flamengo in Brazil, while Nani has chosen to transfer to Valencia in La Liga, which in return Turkish club received 8.5m euros;
– Fener has played three friendlies this summer, finishing those matches unbeaten. They win against Voluntari 3-1 and 2-1 Panathinaikos, having drawn 1-1 with Sparta Prague. The Turks failed to score in the last four League matches, but certainly today will do anything to stop this and fans will help the most;
————————————–
– Champions League finalist 12 years ago, AS Monaco hopes to reach groups , they finished third in Ligue One, and their task will be very difficult;
– this game will find face to face two former Manchester United’s strikers RVP and Falcao who returned to AS Monaco after two unsuccessful years in the Premier League at Chelsea and Manchester United;
– Monaco in the previous season had no emotion in the third round of the CHL , going 3-1 and 4-0 to Switzerland’s Young Boys. In the playoffs they were eliminated by Valencia 3-4 on aggregate;
– The French were one of the most active teams in Europe in transfers. they acquired four players totaling 42m euros Sidibe, Mendy, Glik and Bennasser, the team has lost Toulalan – Bordeaux free transfer;
– friendly matches were veritable festival of goals: 3-3 with Kriens 3-3 with Sion, Young Boys 1-2 , while in the last match against , they won 1- 0, 16 goals in four friendly games against Swiss teams give a solid average of 4 goals / game. They passed 4-1 by Sporting, while in the last match they lost to Zenit 1-3;
————————————–
– I think that tonight we will see both teams on the scoreboard, in 5 of the last 8 League games played by Fener at home that happend, while Monaco fought brave in travels in the Champions League 3 of the last 4 games ending 3-1 or 1-3;

Astra Giurgiu – FC Copenhagen
– Astra Giurgiu is at the first participation in the Champions League after last season managed to win the first title in history;
– in the new season, Astra has already played 2 matches, succeeded 1-0 in Romania Supercup against CFR Cluj and in the first game of the new season lost against Dinamo, score 1-4( rest some players for tonight game);
– Astra debuted in Europe in 2013, in the Europa League, where they lost in the playoffs in front of the Maccabi Haifa, in the next season Astra managed to qualify for the Europa League, defeated in the playoffs a big name in Europe, Olympique Lyon;
– this summer, 3 friendly games, managing only one win, against FC Copenhagen 1-0 :D ;
——————————————-
– FC Copenhagen missed participation in the Champions League two seasons ago, when was defeated in the playoffs by Bayer Leverkusen with 7-2 on aggregate;
– last season, the Danes have played in the Europa League, but were eliminated in the preliminary round by Jablonec because of away goals scored, 3-3 overall;
– FC Copenhagen has already played a preliminary round in this competition, managing to impose on overall score of 9-0 in front of the Crusaders;
– The team coached by Solbakken is in an enviable form lately, managed 4 wins in a row, with a goal difference of 16-0;
——————————————–
– after a very good start so far in the new season, and adding the experience that they have in the European Cups, the Danes start with the first chance in this game, and the situation is the same for qualification;
– however, I think that Astra would make it a good game and my prediction for this match is a tie after the first 45 minutes;
Bet : Astra – FC Copenhagen – draw HT @ 1.92
Great write-ups Radu…cheers and thanks Kyle.
@hullshaker – likewise Mr. Hull ;)
Good morning tipsters, great write ups @Radu sir, I wish you the very best of luck…
Other than the small win on my Champions League 4-fold last night I’m on a poor run and the past week or two hasn’t been great, need to get back to winning ways again and can’t wait for the proper leagues to return around Europe in the coming weeks. I’ll probably stick to lowish stakes from now until the new month, then try to get back in the black.
Today I see there’s a couple of Aussie Cup matches I like the looks of goals in…
10:30am – Shamrock Rovers Darwin v Brisbane Strikers
10:30am – FNQ Heat v Edgeworth
Over 2.5 goals double @ 19/20
10:00am – Newcastle Jets Youth v Maitland
11:00am – Heidelberg Women v Calder Women

Will probably post another Champions League acca for tonight at some point. Good luck today all! ?

@hullshaker well done on another night owl my friend. Doubled the btts with Trinbago in the cricket and woke up rich! Well maybe not rich but it’ll pay for goodwood again today!! Good work
Been having a read up on the Australia FFA Cup. Thought Hume looked decent against an out of form Marconi – however was put off that game as both sides lost their managers 6 days ago. Instead I will have a punt on the West Sydney derby. Sydney United are leaders in the NPL in NSW. Blacktown are second in NPL 1 but are the only team to have beaten United in the campaign winning 3-2. Hopefully this derby will see goals (not cards!)

China FA Cup
Jiangsu Suning v Hebai
Jiangsu > 1.5 TGS 8/13
Suning beat Hebai 4 – 1 at the weekend and 2 – 1 away in the reverse leg of this cup tie. Hebai will have to go for it which should give Suning a chance of a couple. I find it really hard to get team news from China – but hopefully Teixera and Roger Martizez get some game time. I think Ramierz can play as his 4 game suspension for his referee rant red card applies to CSL games.
Fancy a few goals in Australia this morning so I’ve decided to go for over 2.5 goals five fold
Maitland v Newcastle Jets youth
FNQ Heat v Edgeworth
Shamrock Rovers v Brisbane Strikers
Blacktown City v Sydney United
Olympic U20 v Western Pride U20
Also good luck to @waddo and @wasclueless after good right ups

Trenchin v legia warsaw
Btts 1.83
Trenchin have scored in their last 4 games but also conceeded but look motivated from what ive seen of them.
Legia on the other hand havnt really got going yet to their own potential. 2 games played in the league with 2 draws with goals kept to a minimum. I believe theyl be able to score tonight but dont think it will be a thrilling game maybe a tight 1-1 final result.
(Cue the final score 4-4)

I’m backing Astana to score over 1.5 team goals at a nice price.
They scored 2 goals at home against Benfica and Galatasary in last seasons CL group stages. Plus 2 in the previous home tie of this seasons qualification tie.
We all remember Celtic conceding in their away leg in the previous round. So I’m prepared to have a little tickle today.

Afternoon gents,
Few games that look good this evening but will put this one up now…
LA EQUIDAD VS. CÚCUTA DEPORTIVO (21.30 KO):
Colombian Cup game and despite Equidad’s higher league status and home advantage, I reckon Cucuta may well grab one.
The teams met twice last year with both teams finding the net 1-1 and 3-1) and over the last 6 H2H’s, 4 games have seen both teams scoring.
In fact, in the last 4 H2H’s at Equidad’s place, Cucuta have scored in 3.
BTTS…6/5 ?
Crapola…0-0 ?
Astana to score before 61 mins 5/6 WON :)
Top stuff @Wasclueless today from you mate ?
Cheers waddo – the quality improves with a day off work and time to properly research ;)
Interesting games in the various Nordic Leagues and I’ve picked out 3 that are front-runners for Team Goals.
Plenty of research done and not going to post as away fishing and conserving battery but suffice to say the stats all stack up favourably!
I’ve taken hefty singles on the first two and a smaller stake on the third as well as a treble:

GRINDAVIK OVER 1.5 TGS (1/3)
VALUR OVER 1.5 TGS (4/9)

Derby making wholesale changes tonight from the side that beat Chesterfield yesterday.
Having said that, yesterdays side was maybe half of our best players + fringe players but tonight should see a run out for most of those that missed a run out yesterday, it still looks a very very strong side.
@29/20 with bet365 for a Derby win looks excellent value.
Our preseason schedule has been shortened significantly and having the former Leicester man Nigel Pearson at the helm, I have to say is a very solid choice of manager.
Possible line-up tonight – Carson, Christie, Keogh, Shackell, Olsson, Hughes, Johnson, Butterfield, Blackman, Ince, Martin.
The players know they have less preseason matches to impress the new gaffer and although these are only warm-ups against below par teams, we should be mopping them up – and we seem to be doing just that.
Best of luck guys.
Derby 1 nil – penalty.

Grindavik just kicking off in a minute and corners maybbe also be worth a go…Grindavik RT9 pays 2/1 ?
A quick summary on my days ups and downs:
Started the day on £222.48, I woke up to a little 8% boost thanks to two Chinese games. I picked up a 1/5 on the in-play overs 0.5 tmgs, it landed, that took my wake up balance from £241 to the days high of £290.
I then had a £290 treble on 3 overs 0.5’s, Rosenberg, dynamo Moscow and SV erlenbach. The first came in quite easily but as the two that came in were a little late, my stake dwindled rather than rose. It fell and fell until I bailed out with 8 mins to go and limped away with £90 and a bit of pride left. Just before I bailed, I slapped my free £10 from bet365 onto under 0.5 goals in that wretched match. It came in. £3 profit is £3 profit. But well down on the day.
I had a sniff around and long before my treble crashed, I had fancied Benfica and Caracas to give me a goal. I looked at what was goaing around, saw my beloved Derby fielding a strong side and liked the look of Mr F’s Hamilton – but straight win and -1 straight h/c.
My £103 went on this.
Hamilton win 3/10
Derby win 29/20 £80 double. WON £254
Hamilton -1 @ 5/6
Benfica 3/10
Derby 29/20 £20 treble.
Had the in play stats as my only guide but with Torino turning up on the night and Benfica failing to show their class, I bailed on the bet with 70 mins on the clock.
Derby were winning. Hamilton had turned the 2 nil into a 3-2 and Benfica were being held. The treble could of yielded another £110 with an extra Benfica goal but felt it was one of those nights. I cashed out that £20 for £34 ( £3 less than the most I’d been offered all night ).
New balance of £289.87 – up from £222 on the day. A day of ups and down but sometimes you just have to go with your gut and commit. £65 profit or about 29%. I’ll take that and be grateful.
nathanufton, nice one – got to say I was worried though when Accies trailed 2-0.
Anyone know how the Grindavik game is going, can’t find it anywhere…unless it’s called off?
It’s 2-1 to Huginn at half time. Not sure how!
Grindavik are massively on top.
It’s available inplay with Bet365
That’s a great write up Nathan, love hearing the trials and tribs of what people go through during an evenings football betting! ? Don’t see that enough. Footy season almost upon us and pre-season is starting to hot up. Had an in play treble of Derby, Birmingham, Swansea land tonight (small stakes). You’d like to think the bigger teams will start to turn the screw in these games now. Bring on the 6th August!!
So Robin Van Persie is 6/5 to sign for Rangers, Cummings turned them down so having to settle for second best
Johnb, a lot of punters going to be disappointed then. Crazy gamble me thinks.
IR fell a goal short to bring the Icelandic team goal treble down but Valur did the business with the single and awaiting a Grindavik second to bring that one in.
Also mentioned the possibility of corners in their game and they currently have 13 so the RT9 is a winner at 2/1 ?
Night Owl and apologies for the brief post…
BOTAFOGO VS. BRAGANTINO (23.30 KO):
Have looked at the Copa Brasil games and this one stands out – sits 2-2 after the 1st leg and I fancy a few more tonight with boths teams domestic goal-counts being fairly prolific.
Two selections:
OVER 2.5 MGS…4/5
OVER 3.5 MGS…7/4
There’s the Grindavik second deep into injury time…they love a late goal in Iceland ?…18 team corners as well ?
