    Opinions would be appreciated please.
    6.05 punchestown – Someday.
beaten half length on debut last April by Cilaos Emery, in a similar event to this. Cilaos Emery has subsequently ran well ever since, including triumph over Melon yesterday. Someday has only run once since debut, in which it won well at leopardstown back in February. The race last year was run on good/yielding, same as today’s going.
Am I right in thinking Someday has a very good chance in turning over both of the Elliott charges?
    Thanks in advance

Jamie Codd has ridden both Elliot horses and obviously thinks Fayonagh is the best and its got

I was on fayonagh anti-post, the standard of opposition they have faced is very different. And at the odds! i’ve cashed out ? for a wee punt and sf on somechine, given its punch festival form also. GL all

Thank you for your replies Duncan and DC. glad you both approve.
Not been as up to date with the thread the last few days, but I did see that there were a few nice priced winners yesterday. Well done to all who contributed, especially DC who I think I saw posted 2 winners at 14/1+. Top stuff.

    Punchestown Day 2

3.40 Drumcliff 7/1 ew ans Shamiran 25/1 ew
Harry Fry sends Drumcliff across the pond in the JP colours and the fact JP sponsers the race i doubt hes here for the fresh air. Harry is also 2-6 at the track and his stable is also flying at present.
Shamiran has won the race for the past 2 years and although not getting any younger i wouldnt be suprised if he was there at the finish again

    4.20 Drumconner Lad 14/1 ew
Just cant have Battleford at the odds. Minella till dawn could be the answer but took a heavy fall lto so i will go for DL as he lost his maiden tag lto stepping up to 20f for the first time and had a 126 rated horse 15L behind in 3rd. Hopefully theres more to come.

4.55 Al Boum Photo 10/1 ew
Im purely taking this one as the first 3 in the betting have had hard seasons and could take its toll

    5.30 No Bet
But i do give Djakadam a chance over this distance and no cheltenham hill to contend with

    6.05 Someday
Luke a has done a very good write up on this one.
But at 9/1 pp i cant resist an ew on Carter Mckay too as im suprised hes Mullins only runner particularily when hes going for the trainers title and maybe hes happy with what hes seen.

Cant make my mind up so will probably make a decision closer to the off

7.15 The Princetonian 8/1 small ew
Full sister to Rock on Ruby. Be interesting to see how she gets on and bookies not taking any chances

    Enjoy the racing

    Morning all,

I was disappointed with the run of Capolavoro yesterday as he could only manage 5th. I am hoping to get back on track today on what looks a great day of racing.

    14.10 Epsom – Lathom 4/1 & Place 10/11

This ex super sprint winner has dropped down to a very useful mark (89) after failing to score last year. I strongly fancied him to win a Goodwood last season and I am certain that this horse has the potential to be a horse rated in the 100’s. Ryan Moore is an eye-catching booking for O’Meara and hopefully he can get the day off to a good start (1 point win @ 4/1 & 1 point on a place @ 10/11).

    15.05 Perth – Robbin’hannon 3/1

Robbin’hannon went into my notebook when beating Fortified Bay last time at Warwick. That took him to 2/2 in his career (inc P2P), the way he stayed on late was impressive given that I wasn’t sure the heavy ground suited (won his Point on good). While this is a trappy race Robbin’hannon looks worthy of a small investment (1 point win @ 3/1).

    15.15 Epsom – Sindarban 8/1 EW

Sindarban ran well on seasonal reappearance when I put him up at Musselburgh, he was just pipped by a nose from 4th but was staying on all the while. Spencer looks like the ideal jockey for this horse and hopefully he can swoop late today at Epsom. I am sure this horse has a handicap like this in his locker and he boasts some smart form from last season (Beat Fastnet Tempest in a maiden, won a decent Carlisle handicap and finished close third behind Nietzsche at Ayr). Conditions today should be fine and he looks a decent each way punt (1.5 points each way @ 8/1).

    16.20 Punchestown – C’est Jersey 8/1 EW (1/4 odds 365)

This horse was outclassed in the Albert Bartlett last time but returned to calmer waters he can return to form. He has recorded some smart form all season and looks to be value at 8/1 (1 point each way @8/1).

16.55 Punchestown – Al Boum Photo 9/1 EW

Al Boum Photo swerved Cheltenham and was rewarded with an easy Grade 2 last time. He was very impressive that day and I think there is more to come from this 5yo gelding. At the prices he is clearly the each way play (0.75 points each way).

    17.10 Perth – Great Fighter 9/4

Great Fighter looks capable of completing a quick-fire double today at Perth. Last Friday he won a competitive handicap at Ayr’s National meeting by 5 lengths (leaving the useful Azzuri trailing in his wake). Jim Goldie will be wanting to strike again while the iron is hot and with this race looking less competitive I think he can overcome a 7lb penalty (3 point win @9/4).

    18.05 Punchestown – Fayonagh 2/1 & Someday 7/2

Fayonagh produced one of the best performances of the festival when she won the Champion bumper. She was last at halfway but laughed at her rivals as she powered past all of them up the hill. The form has been standing up well in recent races (2nd won since) and she could easily land the ‘big bumper double’ (4 point win @ 2/1). Someday was a horse that I strongly fancied for the champion bumper after backing it the time before. He looks the biggest danger (1 point win @ 7/2) + 0.25 point reverse forecast.

18.40 Punchestown – Jetstream Jack 9/1 EW (4 places available)

With conditions to suit Jetstream Jack (who has been highly tried this year) can go well in this and looks value at 8/1 (0.75 points each way @ 9/1).

    Other bets:

    1 points double – Great Fighter & Fayonagh 8/1.

Many thanks and GL to all

Very interested to hear your system’s Harry ?
I loved course form and horse’s that act well around that time of year or at certain course’s. specialist track’s like fakenham, plumpton, flat track & undulating for the right gee gee’s.
extreme going and long distanced chase’s and races in high grade and big money on offer.
Also horse’s saved after showing good form or their rival’s acting up the form [handi-capper’s job is relative to tracks and times of the year, thus lending a big advantage in ignoring prep runs and forgiving horse’s to back at the right odds.
Can’t beat horse’s that have been running against top guns, like sizing john and fox nortan, and switch to calmer water or different distance’s?

The flat and genetic, toff’s & buff’s, make my skin crawl.
Tv presenter’s are paid to make it sound like, the’ll all finish in a line or talk up favs and grade one’s.

A runt can quickly become the alpha, when swapping condition’s.
          Scientific fact!!
The rich use the good blood debate to control.
Genetics factor’s is a very small percentage of the end outcome of environment and nurture.

Sandra Hughes is another recent example, showing that money talks and the rich are ruing racing ! Not keeping it afloat. Much like capitalism has done since the 70’s, the future of horse racing is an elite one ?! where the money doesn’t filter down and the poor man suffer’s.

on the plus side, future arm chair fans, will get better high class racing. [Hmm reminds me of a banksy poem

          • Profile photo of

Intresting errryesno! I agree with a lot of what you said. I use a number of different systems that all have been tried and tested. For example great fighter today qualified for my “won a handicap by 4 lengths or more and races again within 10 days”- very profitable over the jumps as it gets horses who are ahead of their mark.

The lucky 15 selections were quite poor today with two bad runs from a good skin and arnason. The money came for my 8/1 selection as it started fav at 4s, a decent run but no cigar. We have one left to run to recoup a bit of the outlay.

One of my single selections lost after a 250 day break but looked worth keeping tabs on for sure – star glitter. Luckily profit for the day was secured when my 2 pt 4/1 section came in securing us 8 pts, although with bog it was 9/2, I wont claim the extra point :D. A bit gutted I neglected emenem who won at 8/1 as I mentioned him lto when he didn’t perform well.

Don’t like claiming points for tips given an hour in advanced but going to chuck a point on SDS in the 1925 at Lingfield, angel of darkness 13/2.

Looked like a few people had a good day, well done harry, consistent as ever.

    • Profile photo of juicin
      juicin 1 year ago

Minutestomidnight just obliged at 11/4 to scrape a little back from the L15, my 1925 selection came from 13/2 into 3s but SDS could only manage a head 2nd, yet again the thin margins between being in the red or black continue.

We put some points back in the bank and end the day on -17.41. Onwards.

Gross mate, apologies! SDS pushed the button too early for me, had control of things and was pushing on the bend, could’ve held them up a bit longer, so that the eventual winner wouldn’t have been able to get up that head of steam, easily said in hindsight but he slightly disappointing. hopefully no damage done to your bankroll.

Juicin, no need to apoligies, the horse was an out and out trier, as you said looks like SDS pushed the button too quick, I had Minutesto midnight singled so all was not lost, keep your fancies comimg, as i could not pick my nose, best o luck

Massive day for Willie Mullins today, it was always going to be his worst day on paper so to lose just €17,000 on Elliott is a good day at the office,
The difference is now €276,780 and with several good chances tomorrow Mullins could conceivably go odds on with Nichols Canyon and Great Field in big money races

    • Profile photo of

Johnb why do you want Mullins to win it so much?

      • Profile photo of recoba

Not to answer for John but hes backed them by the looks of it at 11/4. Maybe more to it Harry but it’s as good a reason as any.

Because of the men ruining Irish racing, the O’Leary brothers, they are just flooding races with mediocre horses “mediocre for the races they go for” like the Irish National where I think at least seven of their horses must have been 100/1 or more at antepost odds, even on the day I think nine were 33/1 or more

Also in the last 12 months Mullins has had 682 runners & 30% strike rate whereas Elliott has had 1522 runners and 15% strike rate

I just think Mullins deserves it more
