THE Crucible curse struck again on Friday as defending champ Mark Selby was sent packing by super Scottish qualifier Anthony McGill.
Selby's exit continues the record of no player ever successfully defending the World Champsionship title and McGill's reward for his stunning 13-9 triumph is a clash with Joe Perry or Shaun Murphy in round three.
Saturday sees the two title favourites – Ronnie O'Sullivan and Neil Robertson – get their second-round matches under way. The Rocket is just 1-8 to make it past Matthew Stevens, who's avaialable at 6-1 with the likes of totesport and Betfred.

Dave its all about momemtum. You’ll see coaches take time outs if a team scores 4 or 5 buckets without reply as it slows down the team. Warriors will just make sure they get the win so they’ll be rotating players now. Don’t get anymore rewards for winning by 1 or 10 though.
