MY 11-4 Top Treble was a winner on Friday but Brighton failing to net at Norwich beat the both to score double.

I backed Bray not to lose, Cork to win and Sevilla -1 against Granada. Thanks again to Sean Ireland for his thoughts on the Irish games – his tips are pretty much spot on.

That means my April stats remain close to the 40pts profit mark and I'm not risking too many losses on a tricky Saturday card.

Well done to Greg whose goals tips came up on his favourite Ligue 2 games including his tip for all eight to go over 1.5 match goals.

Scottish Cup and FA Cup semi-finals are the highlights and I've tried to focus on teams who have something to play for. That tactic doesn't always work though as sides with no pressure on them can sometimes surprise.

Take Rotherham for example who have played better since their relegation from the Championship.

I've posted a separate preview on the Scottish Cup semi-finals and Premier League if I get a chance I'll add a thread on the FA Cup semi-finals. Saturday's first tie between title rivals Chelsea and Spurs is tough to call – it could either way with a draw after 90 minutes possible and I reckon both teams will score.

My Super Single is Fleetwood at Gillingham. They're finishing the season strongly and still have a chance of finishing second above Bolton and winning automatic promotion.

Most of my other bets are goals ones and long shots so do the latter for low stakes and remember to back the homes with a bookie that returns the stake for one wrong.

Remember to check out Welovebetting for their tips and video chat.

And if you're having your first bet with 888sport you'll get treble the odds.

Heading over to Chile for the Night Owl with goals top of the menu…

UNIVERSIDAD CATÓLICA VS. O’HIGGINS (00.00 KO):

Both sides have seen a pretty similar mixed bag of results this campaign and I wouldn’t want to call the outcome – I would, however, chance my arm that we could see a few goals!

Recent games may not indicate the likelyhood of goals but the 7 scored in Catolica’s last outing gives a reminder that goals just cannot be ruled out in the Chilean top-flight.

H2H’s really set this one apart though: there have been 7 over the past 3 seasons and all but one have seen both teams on the scoresheet – 4 of those 7 saw both teams netting AND 3 or more goals.

    Two selections to consider:

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…8/11
    ????

    BTTS 1ST HALF…5/2
    ?

    BTTS BOTH HALVES…8/1
    ?

Good luck all on a late one!

Not to bothered about betting on my own team Aberdeen. I’m not about to put them into an acca for tomorrow though as this is a tough one no doubt about it. Im going larger odds with smaller stakes but im backing us to shade it.
Ive seen a few corner tips come in for us lately and asides from that one of the first things a team likes to do in a big cup game is get the crowd on side with an early corner.
Corner in the first 5 minutes is 11/8 william hill

Ive gone for 3 other bets
Aberdeen to win and take 7 corners @4/1
I also think if Johny Hayes does well then we do well.
Jonny Hayes to score and be carded @ 16/1
    To score in 90mins 5/2
Good luck tomorrow. Mon i Dons?

Buoyed by a full house I’m taking a chance on some Aussie games to see goals before I have my cornflakes. Just a single point stake on this – it’s stats-based and the obvious lack of local knowledge are other disclaimers. I’ll have my main Saturday punts up in the morning, but this should have a chance.

  8. HullShaker 7 years ago

    Morning gents,

Interesting card today and there’s no shortage of games that have genuine levity about them – none less than my boys who have had a helter-skelter campaign.

The point at Bolton was hard earnt and may be critical over the next two weeks but tomorrow’s visit of Northampton Town to Gigg will play a massive part and it is a game I can’t fail to see us scoring in given the nnature of the game and the historic H2H’s between the two sides.

If – and hopefully when – that goal comes, my money is on our talisman James Vaughan to net and, frankly, without his goals we would have been dead and buryed a long time ago.

    JAMES VAUGHAN ATGS…20/21
    ??

    Best of luck.

  9. robf 7 years ago

All eyes tomorrow are surely on the excitement of the Ryman Premier Division where an amazing nine of the twelve games have something riding on them.
The title is between Havant and Wayerlooville (away to Kingstonian) and Bognor Regis Town (home to relegation haunted Met Police). I fancy both title chasers to win comfortably but they are priced accordingly. A value alternative is to do both teams to win H/T and F/T with Bet365 offering 2.64/1 on the double.

At the bottom of the table Canvey Island and Burgess Hill Town must win to have any hope of avoiding the drop. Canvey should beat already doomed AFC Sudbury at home but 2/5 looks tight for a team with only 13 wins all season. Burgess Hill host a Merstham outfit safe in mid table but having lost their last two games. The 4/7 for a home win with Bet365 gives you a 6/5 double.

The other stand out bet is Hendon at home to Staines Town. Hendon need to win to guarantee safety and the 8/11 offered by Bet365 is tempting as it turns the above double into 14/5 treble.

    Suggested bets (all Bet365)

    Bognor H/T-F/T
    Havant H/T-F/T

    Double pays 2.64/1

    Canvey win
    Burgess Hill win

    Double pays 7/4

    Add Hendon win

    Treble pays 14/5

  10. robf 7 years ago

Sorry the Burgess Hill and Canvey Island double pays 6/5 not 7/4.

  11. robf 7 years ago

Cambridge City have recorded 4 wins and a draw in their last 5 Southern Premier Division fixtures yet still find themselves in the unenviable position of knowing that a win in their final game at home to St Neots Town will not ensure their safety.

The price of 8/15 with Bet365 (although no real value) is OK considering I rate them as the biggest certainty of the day. Definitely a selection to add to an acca.

The other big game at the bottom sees Kings Langley meet Cirencester Town where one of the teams will definitely go down. The away side need a win and for Cambridge to lose otherwise relegation is a certainty. I am not sure why Cirencester are 5/4 favs with Bet365 but news filtering from elsewhere may render their best efforts worthless. Kings Langley are a pretty good 6/4 shot in my view.

    Cambridge City to win

    8/15

    Kings Langley to win

    6/4

    Double pays 3.8/1

My third and final non league preview concerns the Northern Premier League relegation issue that is a straight fight between Corby Town and Sutton Coldfield Town. The two clubs are level on points but Corby’s superior goal difference gives them the edge as do the respective final day fixtures.

Corby are evens with Bet365 to win away to Coalville Town whilst Sutton face a difficult task at 4th placed Workington who can finish as high as 2nd or 3rd with a win thus earning themselves a home game in the divisional play offs. The 8/11 on a home win may be too good to turn down.

    Corby win
    Workington win

Not a tip as such but im interested in skybets priceboost which looks to have a fair chance on a difficult saturday:
BOURNEMOUTH,HULL and Everton all to win @ 8/1.

Bournemouth haven’t been great of late but last 2 defeats came against spurs and chelsea before that being unbeaten in 5 with 3 away draws at liverpool man utd and southampton and 2 home wins against Swansea and West ham. They should see off a terrible ‘Boro side with no lg wins last 15 going back to 17th Dec.

Hull are in great form at home with seven wins and a draw in their last eight games and the Tigers’ battle for Premier League survival could get another boost. Watford have lost nine of their last 11 away matches and have little to play for in the league. FACT: Hull manager Marco Silva is unbeaten in 40 home games at four different clubs ;)

Everton have been brilliant since the turn of the year winning ten of their 16 games – only losing away to Tottenham and LiverpooL and have lost only two of their last 16 meetings with West Ham.The ‘Ammers have won just 1 of their last 9 lg games a 1-0 defeat of a very poor Swansea.
    GOOD LUCK.

Hullshaker any chance you could put up your nite owl tips early bud?

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Morning Jimba – I’d love to but the reality is I have a young family and a job that demands ridiculous hours – this leaves me with a very small proportion of the day to research, write-up and post.

Once I’m back in and kids are asleep, it’s back to work for me ’till late but I’ll have the footy on in the background and will write-up and post then, hence the late posts.

Posting closer to KO time does have its advantages though, it means that having earmarked/notebooked your games prior to the event, you can monitor markets and try and justify/utilise any shortening and drifting of prices to your advantage.

  31. HullShaker 7 years ago

Totally agree with Mr F and Rob – with so many teams having various agendas/scenarios to play out/nowt to play for, it is a card littered with potential landmines.

Despite that, there is one constant that isn’t truly compromised by the above…goals!

I’ve picked out 6 that I fancy for a Lower League Longshot:

    BOSTON
    DARLO
    HALIFAX
    BLYTH

    OVER 2.5 MGS 6-FOLD…12.86/1

    ****************************

Both teams scoring in the 1st half has been a market that has been kind to me this year and if you can pick out the scoring patterns of various teams and specific H2H’s, it is one that can pay high dividends.

I’ll be having a go at these 3 games as singles, doubles and the treble:

    NORTH FERRIBY (10/3) ?
    DARLO (3/1) ?
    BOSTON (11/4) ?

Hibernian Cup record versus Premiership opposition as a Championship club

Sept 2014 League Cup: Ross County 0-2 Hibs

Oct 2014 League Cup: Hibs 3-3 Dundee United – beaten 7-6 pens

Sept 2015 League Cup: Hibs 2-0 Aberdeen

Nov 2015 League Cup: Hibs 3-0 Dundee United

Mar 2016 Scottish Cup: Hibs 1-1 ICT Replay: ICT 1-2 Hibs

Apr 2016 Scottish Cup: Hibs 0-0 Dundee United – won 4-2 pens

Feb 2017 Scottish Cup: Hearts 0-0 Hibs – Replay Hibs 3-1 Hearts

I am no expert on Aberdeen but from what I have seen “which is very little” they control possession and dominate games, Hibernian have been the same but have had to do it with teams sitting back which doesn’t play to their strengths, we have players who should have been playing in the top flight and who are well capable of hurting Aberdeen,
Aberdeen are a better team than they were in 2015 when Hibernian won 2-0 but so are we, Aberdeen have lost their last four Scottish Cup semifinals, Hibernian have made it to the semifinals on five of the last six seasons, Last year it was Conrad “The Polar Bear” Logan that was a master in the nets for us and this season it’s Ofir “Rocky” Marciano
The team pretty much picks itself now and while I am still a big fan of Brian Graham it’s always going to be Jason “Cumdog” Cummings who will start, that is unless he injured himself wrestling the other day, most improved player this season has been Marvin Bartley, last season he was an unused sub in the final but this season he has been a revelation, John McGinn is simply class and he is better than Zidane,
Hibernian may have been plying their trade in the Championship for three seasons but it’s the best thing that could have happened “not many fans will agree” but we have had time to rebuild and play football the way fans like to see, Scottish football is way behind other countries but apart from Celtic there isn’t too much between the rest of the top league and some of the Championship teams,

Two in a row is a popular song with Hibs fans and what started as a bit tongue in cheek has turned into a distinct possibility, everyone else left in the competition have to win the the Cup whereas Hibs just see it as a bonus, we are the holders and after waiting 114 years it would just be ironic if we won two in a row, we will outnumber Aberdeen in the stands and definitely outsing them, the players should be able to play with no fear as a defeat won’t take away our promotion and Jason Cummings in particular will want his last game for Hibernian in the Cup final as a summer move is inevitable as a £3m+ move to England or even a cash plus Griffiths deal with Celtic isn’t too far fetched

You do sell it well Jb, I’ll give you that. May the best team on the day win.
On the yankee by the way. ?

    • bigpika 7 years ago

There is no way Celtic will sell griffiths to hibs in anyway.

Cash plus griffiths is laughable. Griffiths is twice the player Cummings will ever be.

Hibs would never be able to afford the fee or wages.

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

I agree – can’t see a deal being done to take Griffiths to Hibs.

  42. euan 7 years ago

Maybe wearing rose tinted glasses but think the price on Hibs just to score is big!
We having nothing to fear today, promotion was the aim this season n that was secured last week. The mood at Easter road seems quite relaxed now as seen by the Jason ” cumdog ” Cummings video, I’m sure Lennon will have everybody fired up for this. We have the players that can hurt Aberdeen n it’s chance for Cummings n McGinn to showcase themselves.
I’ll be having a couple of points on Hibs to score n a point on Hibs over 1.5 tg.

    Good Luck!

    • ray_ez 7 years ago

4/6 is very generous. I’ve been feeling draw all week. Which i know is very negative of me. I dont think theres a massive amount of expectation amongst dons fans either. We’ve been beaten by a lot worse than Hibs in the cup.
I dont think you get to play the major underdog in this one. We’re ready for you. Stand free

    O2.5 Match Goals Treble @ 23/20 (Coral, Bet365) ///WIN///
    __________________________________________

The trip down under was successful as a slew of penalties, scored and missed, sees the final game go over. Onto today’s picks. I really struggle to find bets I’m happy with at this time of the year as lots of clubs in England have little to play for and with that comes the need for more research and the likelihood of form going out the window. Still, there’s a few to like this afternoon.

Darlington have seen somewhat of a resurgence at a vital time. They had a bit of a wobble mid-season but have lost just once to table-toppers Fylde in their last 10, and in their last 3 games have won emphatically, scoring a total of 10 goals. That form has seen them all but solidify a playoff spot. However, just three points separate Chorley, Halifax, Darlo and Salford, and with Stockport still mathematically in the mix, two of them are going to miss out.

Darlington therefore have something to play for, and could have faced a much tougher test than Telford on their own patch. Telford have virtually secured safety from relegation, but their last three games have seen them concede 8 goals. Telford have been consistently inconsistent all season, switching between patches of average results but conceding a few, to average results and conceding many. Darlington, who have scored 49 in 20 home games, should be looking to avenge their 2-0 defeat at Telford earlier in the season in what is a big game for the club.

*I’m aware of Darlington potentially being disqualified from the playoffs due to seating capacity, however all signs suggest they will still look to secure their place as they launch an appeal to the FA.

Add Dartford against relegated Stortford. Dartford have scored 2+ at home in all of their last 10 except in two fixtures against Chelmsford. Chelmsford are a top side in the division and lie level with Dartford on points in the playoff places. Dartford have already secured a playoff place but Stortford are in absolute freefall. 16 conceded in their last 5, 33 in their last 10 and just 2 goals scored in those 10 should see Dartford comfortably home this afternoon.

    Darlington
    Dartford

    O1.5 Team Goals Double @ 4/5 (Bet365)
    __________________________________

Reports from the Dartford camp are that they want to finish third to give themselves a home advantage in the second leg of their playoff tie v Chelmsford and are looking to carry momentum into that game. They have a really good record against Stortford in recent history and, despite the short price, I’m going to take a chance that Stortford won’t be anywhere near as up for this.

    Dartford O2.5 Team Goals @ 7/10 (Winner)
    ____________________________________

Another game that screams goals in the National League South is one down in Weston. Both sides with nothing to play for, yet that hasn’t stemmed the flow of goals in recent weeks. Weston have seen BTTS and Overs in 7 of their last 9 home games and on the other two occasions they won 3-0 and 5-0. Eastbourne aren’t as reliable on the road for goals as they are at home but have scored in their last 9 away, including at Chelmsford, Ebbsfleet and Maidenhead. Eastbourne average 3.5 goals away this season, Weston average 3.3 at home. Should be goals.

    Weston v Eastbourne BTTS and O2.5 Match Goals @ 4/5 (Bet365)

I’m a West Ham fan and have considered backing him all week, especially as if I do then he probably won’t score, plus a run like that has to end sometime and it’s usually when it’s least expected

    Derby team news:

A couple of changes from the last match with Ince sitting on the bench for just the 2nd time this season.

    Carson
    Baird/Keogh/Pearce/Olsson
    Johnson/Hughes
    Russell/Vydra/Anya
    Bent

Two teams, both with very different aims. Sheff Wed with home advantage should push the Rams aside today in pursuit of a playoff spot and all the rams have to play for is consolidation in the 8th -10th spot and use this as a yard stick to see how we’ve evolved against a top championship side away from home. During the wretched January-March, you’d nail your house on a Sheff Wed win, but with Rowett picking up the results he’s done, we’ve sadly left our charge for the top 6 way too late. I’m sure he’s looking at who he keeps and who gets shown the door.

Goals wise, both teams are about equal on firepower and in a weekend where there’s so many game that can/will trip you up just in the championship, the only thing I’m quietly confident on in this is Sheff Wed are likely to win the race to 3 and 5 corners. The momentum is on them, they’ll attack – whether it results in goals for Sheff Wed, but their corners count should leave us for dust.

Sorry I can’t advise on anything else, I’m just not that confident on it.
Best of luck today guys, and best of luck today to the Brewers; a win today for Burton ( who CAN ) grind out a 1 nil hosting Leeds – who are on the slide could guarantee championship football for next season.

      Tierney First Goalscorer @ 40/1
      (Above with Betfred)

Senderos First player carded @ 12/1
      (Skybet)

Kenny Miller to be shown a card anytime is my main bet. In my opinion he’s likely to get booked and I think this has been overlooked. Miller is a huge 7/1 to be booked with 888 Sport. This is a huge price when you compare it to the other bookies price. Kenny Miller is as short as 11/8 with Skybet, 9/4 with Paddy Power and 4/1 with Hills. The difference in price is unreal. Snap up the 7/1 before the price is cut.
