PSG continue their march towards the Ligue 1 title with a Friday night home clash with Rennes. The visitors have been the bogey team for the leaders but have looked off colour lately and should struggle at the Parc des Princes.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has come under pressure for PSG's unconvincing performances this season and was heavily criticised after they crashed out of the Coupe de France. However, they showed glimpses of their old quality in their previous Ligue 1 fixture, claiming a 5-1 victory at Lille.
While the performance is expected to calm a few nerves in the French capital, the result also means PSG have now gone 13 points clear at the top of the table. They remain the dominant team in the league and have won their last three Ligue 1 matches, scoring 11 goals and conceding just one goal in that run.
The Parc des Princes also remains a fortress for PSG, who are yet to taste defeat at home this season. They have also maintained a solid defensive record lately, keeping clean sheets in their last four matches in front of their fans.
Rennes are once again enduring an inconsistent campaign but remain in the mix for a European finish. Sitting fifth on the table, three points behind third placed Nice, they also have a chance of securing a UEFA Champions League spot.
However, things appear to be slowly going sideways for Rennes in recent weeks as they have lost four of last six Ligue 1 matches. They did claim a 2-0 victory over Brest in their previous fixture with Gaetan Laborde and Martin Terrier getting the goals.
One problem that has hampered Rennes throughout the season is their poor record on their travels. Bruno Genesio’s men have lost their last three Ligue 1 matches on the road and were beaten 2-1 by struggling Clermont in their previous away fixture.
