Rapid Flight won in decent fashion at Cartmel yesterday. I mentioned that jumps racing isn't exactly my thing at this time of year despite being a big fan of the jumps, but when I saw the opportunity of a good bet in Rapid Flight I had to tip him up.
Ripon 3:40
Tuesday's best race of the day arguably comes at Ripon in this Class 4 (0-80) 6f handicap. There are some decent handicappers in this which most of you will be aware of, especially some of the course veterans like MARK'S CHOICE and Bossipop. As you can see from the bold lettering I've gone for Mark's Choice in this, and I think he has to have a huge chance.
Having course form is always nice to have, but it's not the full reason why I think he will win this. His recent form is probably the best on offer and I think he is on a very good handicap mark and one which he will take advantage of soon if it's not today's race. He ran a belter in the Great St Wilfrid at this track in the middle of August. The form of that hasn't been fully tested yet, but Summerghand has come out and won (winning tip as well), so you can probably say it will turn out to be good form. He then went to Hamilton where his gas tank emptied on that stiff track on soft ground, which is why I think a return to faster ground and a course he knows and loves will make him tough to beat.
He ran in this race last year off a mark of 79 and was very unlucky to not win. He didn't get the clearest of runs and if he did, then he would've won. Today he is running off a mark of 76 when you take away the 5lb claim of Ryan Sexton, so based on that you'd have to say he is well handicapped.
There should be a good pace to aim at with noticeable front runners in Bossipop and Khabib, so it could set it up nicely for a horse who sits just behind the pace and cruises past in the final furlong or so, which is what I hope Mark's Choice will.

Morning all. It looks pretty grim racing today to say the least, but I’m gonna take a chance on Thiago 2.35 at Ripon. Hasn’t done a lot but drops in trip and into a nursery for the first time. He could finish in the top 4 ew extra at 33s
