Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me once more tackle the Nations League and there’s one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

🇵🇱 Poland vs Netherlands 🇳🇱

🇪🇺 Nations League

⏰ Thursday 22nd September, 19:45

The Netherlands will look to move one step closer to sealing their place in the Nations League semi-finals, as they travel to Warsaw to take on Poland at the PGE Narodowy Stadion on Thursday evening.

Poland kicked off their Nations League campaign in a positive manner, as they came from behind to defeat Wales 2-1. However, Czesław Michniewicz’s side has gone on to collect just one point from their next three Nations League fixtures, losing 6-1 and 0-1 against Belgium and throwing away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 in Rotterdam in the reverse fixture against the Dutch. The Eagles are yet to record a clean sheet in the Nations League and three of the four clean sheets they recorded in World Cup qualification came at home to minnows Andorra and San Marino and away at Albania. The Poles found the back of the net in all 11 of their matches on route to qualifying for this year's World Cup, as well as in 3/4 of their Nations League fixtures.

The Netherlands maintained their three-point lead at the top of Group A4 last time out, as they scored a stoppage-time winner to defeat Wales 3-2. That result meant Louis Van Gaal’s side have done the double over Wales, as well as thrashing Belgium 1-4 in their own backyard – with their only blemish being that 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture against Poland. The Oranje have banged in a total of 11 goals in their four Nations League outings, scoring on multiple occasions in each. However, the Dutch have conceded in all four of their Nations League fixtures, as well as in 3/5 of their away World Cup qualifiers – with their only clean sheets coming against minnows Gibraltar and Latvia.

Poland vs Netherlands Match Preview

Bet of the Day

The Dutch have been impressive during their year’s Nations League campaign, as they currently sit top of Group A4 having taken 10 points from a possible 12. However, the two points they dropped came in a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture, therefore, I’m expecting another close clash when the pair meet in Warsaw on Wednesday evening.

There’s been a combined total of 32 goals in the pair’s Nations League outings, with both teams to score and over 2.5 goals landing in 7/8 of those. Given the abundance of attacking quality on show and that neither side are particularly tight at the back, we should see at least three goals in what should be an open and entertaining encounter in the Polish capital.
