CELTIC crashed out of Champions League contention despite winning all three of their homes ties and will do well to maintain that record tonight.

Fenerbahce are better than Stjarnan, Qarabag and Malmo but were shocked in their Europa League opener.

That 3-1 home loss to Molde will give Celtic hope but they know the Turks possess quality up front in the shape of Nani and Robin van Persie while the likes of Fernandao and Raul Meireles also pose a threat.

RVP hasn't started the last two games but has come on and netted in both and is 9-5 at BetBright to score tonight. He in tonight though and up against the likes of Efe Ambrose and Kieran Tierney in defence.

Fenerbahce have every chance of scoring over 1.5 goals and that's my Super Single tonight.

Celtic recorded a decent result away to Ajax and will be confident of breaching a defence that's conceded seven in three.

I like both teams to score at 8-11 with boylesports and over 2.5 goals at 10-11 with William Hill should come in.

The Hoops fired a blank against Hearts at the weekend though so hold off on a first-scorer punt until line-ups are revealed with Leigh Griffiths facing competition from Nadir Ciftci against his countrymen. Ciftci is 8-5 to score his second goal in the Hoops.

Celtic are a best 13-8 at Betfred to win with the Turks 2-1 at bet365 and the draw 5-2 with McBookie.

No Turkish side has won in Scotland in seven visits but on the other hand Fenerbahce have won all six of their Europa League group stage matches away from home. Five of those were by 1-0 and another pays 19-2 at McBookie.

Ajax visit Molde in the other Group A game and will be confident of picking up the points. They are 6-5 at Ladbrokes but best bet could be over Ajax 1.5 goals at 11-10 with Coral as they've achieved this five in a row – including exactly two in four successive matches.

Boyata is 28/1 to score a header – I’ll have a small bet on that to have an interest.

Fenerbahce just strike me as being all about the big names and not the team.

    CELTIC VS FENERBAHCE TIPS

Anyone looking for a value Goalscorer bet should look no further than Nir Bitton. He scored the first goal against Ajax in Celtic’s last Europa League game and came close against Hearts at the weekend. He also scored twice this year in the Champions League against Stjarnan and Malmo so that’s 3 goals in Europe this year. This makes Bitton too big and at 28/1 for first goal and 11/1 anytime, Bet365 are taking a risk. Bitton scored against Ajax after just 8 mins and Malno in 10 mins so who fances a couple of quid on Bitton First Goalscorer in 1-20 mins @ 65/1?

Another player I’m looking at is Boyata, he’s been poor in the premier league and has yet to score but he’s already netted twice in Europe this season so he could have a chance to score with a set piece. Boyata is 16/1 with Coral to score anytime.

    RECOMMENDED BETS
    Bitton First Goalscorer @ 28/1 (Bet365)
    Bitton Anytime Goalscorer @ 11/1 (Bet365)
    Bitton First Goalscorer 1-20 mins @ 65/1
    Boyata Anytime Goalscorer @ 16/1

    Good luck everyone

Deila Celtic Manager has had the vote of confidence from Chairman Dermot Desmond which is always a bad thing as your usually getting your p45 and with some of the Celtic supporters questioning Deila selection in games a defeat tonight could see the fans turning on Manager ,

Celtic will attack at home but with Fenerbahce losing at home in opening game they need to take at least a draw tonight so I expect a end to end game and BTTS looks the best bet

I have 20 notes in my account and on that treble would win me 1690, might it be ‘sign’….!!

  8. Mr H 9 years ago

Delia is in no danger of getting his P45 a time soon, that’s wishful thinking in some people’s minds. A controversial decision in the Scottish Cup semi-final cost him a possible treble in his first season in charge. They will win the league again come the end of the season.

Some of the disgruntled fans are delusional ones who can’t quite fathom that the economical climate in Scottish football isn’t what it was 10-15yrs ago when they were able too lure players such as Sutton,Hartson,Lennon and Lambert too the club that could compete at European level. They need too be more realistic and realise that the Europa league will be our level until UEFA sort out the mess in who qualifies automatically for the Champions League.
It’s farcical that teams who finish 2nd and 3rd in England,Spain,Germany etc get into the group stages of the ‘Champions’ League while other national league winners have too endure 3 rounds of qualifying. It’s set up for the rich too get richer while the smaller nations fight for the scraps at a table that they deserve too have an automatic place at. The gap is only going too increase in the years too come

  9. JamesB81 9 years ago

    Mr H

I’d suggest that Delia does have to demonstrate that he can have his team do well in the Europa League this season, so as to build a body of evidence to say he’ll do better at the CL qualifiers next summer.

Being able to beat teams with significantly lower budgets such as Maribor, Malmo and Legia has nothing to do with Celtic not being financially competitive in todays game. Those defeats were about not being good enough / well organised enough, etc.

The ‘Champions route’ into the CL group stage is there to make things easier for the likes of Celtic. It is their own fault that in the last two years they haven’t been good enough.

After all that I do fancy them to win tonight against a Fenerbache team that doesn’t equal the sum of it’s parts.

    Celtic @ 8/5 (with bet365 yesterday)

  10. Mr H 9 years ago

The Champions route into the CL is there too make it easier for teams like Celtic?? What a lot of old tosh James, the champions of every league should qualify automatically too give justification too the name of the tournament first and foremost.

Point taken on Maribor and Malmo with the displays being sub-standard and of course it is their own fault they didn’t make it through the qualifiers but my point was that as league champions they should be granted automatic qualification too the group stage. Legia Warsaw have a similar budget too Celtic at around £18-20m per season.

After all that I’m not too sure they will win tonight and your spot on that Fenerbahce don’t equal the sum of their parts.

  11. JamesB81 9 years ago

Whilst you may not agree it enough Mr H, it is not “tosh”, the ‘Champions Route (CR)’ was brought in by UEFA so as to address (to a degree) some of the concerns you to alude to. It was a concession for nations that don’t get an automatic CLGS place.

As far as Celtic are concerned eg.
    – Pre CR / Arsenal
    – Post CR / Malmo

You can talk about what would be in effect bringing back the old European Cup until you are blue in the face but it ain’t happening.

  12. Mr H 9 years ago

Okay so maybe I worded that wrong, the point I’m making is that the automatic qualification criteria is wrong as I and supporters of many other club’s would say. You can talk about the ‘Champions Route’ being brought in too address some of the concerns that I allude too till you are blue in the face but it still doesn’t hide the flaws in the criteria for automatic qualification too a tournament that is named the champions League yet has more runners up and also rand in the group stages than it has champions of national leagues. Maybe they should just re-name it the European Cup again and it would stop the misrepresentation that the current name brings

  13. PedroJord 9 years ago

Bet £19 James that’s the kind of sign that could lead to bankruptcy haha

  14. JamesB81 9 years ago

    Mr H

I think we could rebrand both competitions with a more ‘accurate name’.

I’d agree with the European Cup alongside the ‘Thursday Cup’ !!

    2015/16 bet competition winners
Double: Bayern Munich and Dortmund 28/1

  15. Mr H 9 years ago

James that’s not a bad double too be fair ,don’t see many teams in the Thursday cup that will trouble Dortmund and Munich in my opinion only really have Madrid,PSG or Barcelona too worry about. Even when Arsenal drop out of the champions league before matchday 5 :) there’s still few teams as strong as Dortmund

  16. JamesB81 9 years ago

I’ll drop off an e-mail to Peter Lawwell, to alert his club to the possibility of them investing 700K on that 28/1 shot with the idea being to make up the CL money shortfall next summer.

It’d certainly offer better value than Boerrigter, Bangura, etc.

Celtics budget and malmos budget is irrelevant. The days of Celtic fans expecting their team to easily dispatch of teams such as legia warsaw and malmo are long gone. These teams are decent outfits and can make it hard enough for the best players in the world never mind Boyata and Griffiths. We seen Malmo at home last night hold Real Madrid to 0-1 up until the 80th minute. If budgets were to be taking into account then surely Real Madrid should be taking 5,6 or 7 off a team as small as Malmo….? They don’t – because outfits like Malmo arent push overs and are tactically and technically sound enough to compete.

    • JamesB81 9 years ago

Once OK but if it happens twiceIAR (Maribor and Malmo/30-40M down) then the beaten team with the significantly higher budget (Celtic) have to take a look at themselves and find some answers/solutions.

Quite apart from the footballing aspect, the PLC board need to think of their shareholders.

  17. Mr H 9 years ago

Maybe you should have sent a similar one too wonder wheels before the liquidation of the other half of Glasgows big 2 as Mr Lawells club are financially stable

  18. JamesB81 9 years ago

    Mr H

I don’t understand the relevance of the elimination of Rangers from the ‘Thursday Cup’ by Maribor back in the day.

Although I recognise the co-incidence when you take into consideration that in the same summer, Malmo put them out of the CL.

The footballing Gods must have decided to meddle upon hearing so much gloating !
