I TIPPED Motherwell to win the play-offs at 5-4 before the semi-finals and having done so I'm standing by the Premiership side who are now 1-8 at Coral.
Darren McGregor's late consolation at Ibrox last Thursday has changed the dimensions of this tie and while it will take a miraculous turnaround Rangers will pile pressure on Well if they score first and are 11-10 at Paddy Power to do so.
At 3-0 down the tie was over but at 3-1 there's a glimmer of hope for Rangers although McGregor is banned and Lee Wallace and Nicky Law have overcome doubts to make into the starting line-up.
Stuart McCall is toying with the idea of defender Lee McCulloch starting up top and has the option of going with Kris Boyd who made a difference when he came on in the first leg. Skipper McCulloch is 11-2 with Betfred to score.
If Motherwell hit the opener it's finished – and McCall knows it so his men need to keep it tight at the start before taking any risks.
Ian Baraclough is likely to employ the same tactics as the first leg and use his pacy wideman to hit Gers on the break. Lee Erwin and Lionel Ainsworth troubled the Ibrox backline in the first game and I fancy Erwin to net at 2-1 with McBookie. Ainsworth is 7-2 with bet365.
I reckon Well will score which means Rangers will need three to force extra time or four to win in 90 minutes.
The Ibrox side are 6-1 with bet365 to win promotion and 19-10 at Betfred to win tomorrow. Well are 8-5 at McBookie but I can see see a draw at 5-2 with McBookie who mark up a scoring stalemate at 18-5.
Both teams to score looks a good bet at 8-11 with Skybet as does over 2.5 goals at 10-11 with the same firm.
Well's defence looked ropey as Gers piled forward in the closing stages but McCall will be without banned McGregor and that's a blow to his hopes of keeping a clean sheet.
Recommended Bets
Over 2.5 goals
(10-11, Skybet)
Erwin to score
(2-1, McBookie)
After watching on Thursday I’m going for Motherwell DnB @ eves with Bet365.
Thats a great bet. Or am I missing something??
Radical, they’ll happily accept a one-goal loss so be aware of that. To be honest Rangers need to score first and then let’s see how Motherwell react under a bit of pressure.
Motherwell DNB is 11/10 at bet victor
Motherwell over 20 points in cards is 6/4 at pp. Can’t find a SPL fair play table, anyone able to shed some light on motherwells disciplinary? Do you guys expect the game to be fierce?
I’m a rangers supporter,I had a dream that it was 4-1 to Rangers, I don’t think my dream will come true but I’ll put a wee stake on it, I think the smaller pitch will suit Rangers.
motherwell 3 – 1 rangers
same score as Thursday night
Think rangers can win 2-0 and take this to extra time.
Vuckic anytime scorer and 2-0.
22/1. GL
Just a heads up that McCulloch is 16/1 first goal scorer @ BetFred and they’re doing the double delight, hat-trick heaven meaning they will multiply the odds by how many goals he scores. If he starts upfront as suggested it could be worth a bet
David Rangers will be lucky to score, maybe it’ll be McCulloch but 2 or 3 haha you still on the bevy fi last night :)
Well, Well , Well, gonna be a bookies day today I think unless the rangers can pull off a shock :)
Alves, Rangers are being massively backed as always. Their fans are loyal and will like the prices – I’m still on Motherwell to qualify but as I said hope it’s a contest. Anyway off to walk the dug before watching the game.
Speaking to my Motherwell info man last night and he reckons MacDonald and Pearson are big injury doubts as for Rangers they will have to make changes today but not all is cloudy.Rangers will surely start with the 2 young guns they brought on Thurs. The forced changes for Gers might be a good thing.Still a tough game to call.
I think Rangers will just edge it tonight and win 1-0 or 2-1 and just miss out. Motherwell will play very defensive in the second half if they’ve still got a lead to protect.
