IT took Celtic six games and Man City two to qualify for the Champions League and they landed in a tough section alongside Barcelona and Monchengladbach in Group C.

Celtic face the toughest of starts in Spain while City host the Germans on matchday one.

Brendan Rodgers' men passed a huge test on Saturday – now they face an even bigger challenge.

Rangers were swept aside in the first Old Firm derby of the season but a wounded Barcelona are unlikely to fall so easily.

The sides couldn't have had more contrasting results at the weekend with Barca going down 2-1 at home to Alaves.

Luis Enrique made seven changes and started without Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez but both are expected to play in tonight's Champions League opener.

I can't see anything but a Barca win but Rodgers can take hope from Celtic's record against the megastars. They've avoided defeat in five of 12 meetings and netted in six of the last eight.

Only once have the Hoops been routed – 6-1 by a Neymar-inspired side. Neymar started against Alaves and will be out to do some damage again. The Brazilian Olympics hero is 19-20 at betfair to score.

Barca are massive favourites with Marathonbet going a biggest 1-9 and Ladbrokes are 1-4 to win by two or more.

Celtic are 33-1 at Paddy Power – Alaves were 28s. The draw pays 12-1 at sportingbet.

Barca and both to score is a possibility at 15-8 with bet365 and both teams to score will be popular at 6-4 with bet365. Celtic look potent in attack – even without Leigh Griffiths – and just to net are 13-10 with Coral.

Old Firm hat-trick hero Moussa Dembele is 28-1 with Coral to score first and 9-1 to net at anytime.

Scott Sinclair has netted in all four Premiership encounters and is 8-1 at Coral to do so again.

Compare those prices with Messi a biggest 13-5 with McBookie to break the deadlock and Suarez 27-10.

I can see a repeat of Barca's 3-1 win in the ICC Cup and that pays 12-1 at McBookie.

In the other group game Man City are 4-9 at William Hill to beat Monchengladbach and consider Sergio Aguero to score first at 16-5 with betfair. To net at anytime he is 8-11 at Ladbrokes.

The sides met last season and Man City won 2-1 away and 4-2 at home and goals are expected again.

Both sides are attack-minded so Man City and both to score is worth a look at 8-5 with Coral as City look to continue their great start to the season under Pep Guardiola.

Both to score pays 4-6 at Stan James and over 3.5 goals is worth a look at 16-13 with 888sport.
