BOOKIES were celebrating after an amazing set of FA Cup results which saw the top three clubs in the Premier League beaten.

Coral claimed their best single-day figures from FA Cup matches just a week after a record-breaking loss on football when the industry paid out in excess of £40million.

There were smaller surprises with Palace winning at Southampton, Leicester sinking Spurs and Blackburn defeating Swansea. On top of that Bolton held Liverpool and Fulham drew at Sunderland.

Coral's John Hill said: “A £10 treble on Bradford beating Chelsea, Middlesbrough getting the better of Manchester City and Crystal Palace beating Southampton would have paid over £11,000, while a fourfold which also included Leicester would have returned over £50,000.

“A week after Coral suffered their biggest loss in history on football we’ve had our best FA Cup day ever following an astonishing set of results. Not one single punter backed a treble which included Bradford, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace.

“Although we are still a long way off recouping our losses from last week there is doubt bookmakers up and down the country will be rejoicing this weekend’s results.”

Here are some of the crazy prices you could have taken – and of course some people did land crazy lines with other bookies.

1134-1 – Combined odds of treble on Bradford (to beat Chelsea), Crystal Palace (to be Southampton) and Middlesbrough (to beat Manchester City)

1000-1 – Bradford’s betting in play price when they were losing 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United now head Coral’s FA Cup outright betting while Arsenal are second best in the market at 10-3.

FA Cup betting latest – 3 Manchester United, 10-3 Arsenal, 4 Liverpool, 11 West Ham, 18 Crystal Palace, West Brom, 22 Leicester, 28 Stoke, 33 Derby, 40 Bar.

Sky Sports reports that one lucky punter won £29,000 for £100 on the Bradford/Boro double at 289/1. Good luck to him, although he must’ve already had a good few quid lurking about to make such a punt?

stagger, some people do only daft bets – I know a guy who won’t consider betting on anything that pays less than 500-1. He’s doing it for low stakes but has pulled out a couple of five-figure winners.

  2. cooldude 9 years ago

Stagger its beyond belief that a punter pulled that off. But then again its possible Man City were jet lagged after returning from abroad later then expected. As for Bradford beating Chelsea well that clearly falls under a miracle to come from 2 goals down and win.

£100?….What on earth convinced him to stake that?…Am skipping cups tomorrow

I will become foolish before i back teams at such a low price,it doesn’t worth my money

  5. stagger 9 years ago

Yeah, I know. Well, I think Sky are only reporting it because the punter placed his bet with Skybet. You can see their claims over at skysportsfootball.com or whatever their web address is. I agree, a hundred pounds on that double is crazy.

After today’s results i’am seriously thinking of giving up for good. After the best few weeks ever over Christmas the last 2 weeks have been horrendous. Its been that bad I’d be struggling to pick a 1/100 shot!! Today it was Hearts that did me last night it was United,Monday it was Algeria to win 1-0,2-0 or 2-1 only for a dodgy keeper to throw 1 in his own net to make it 3-1. It was even that bad last week that I wanted only 1 goal in the C/Field/ Scunthorpe match(a 1/40 shot) for over £100, what happened? It finished 0-0!! I’m starting to believe that some T**t is watching me like the Truman show and having a good F****** laugh at my expense.Dont get me wrong, ive not spent the family savings or out but ive certainly give all or most of the money i won back to the enemy. As anyone else encountered this phenomenon or is it just me??

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Gaz H, sorry it’s just you! Seriously, everyone has good and bad runs – the thing to do just now is keep your stakes low until your luck changes.

    • AnOnYmoUS 9 years ago

Gaz H frankly speaking you will probably never be able to beat the bookies long term, the best way to look at it is its a bit of fun and not to take it to seriously and don’t expect to rely on gambling as a source of income or even a 2nd income.

The thing with gambling as Mr F says you will get runs of good and bad results unfortunately we cannot determine how long these runs will last.

I know personally when I have any decent runs I still beat myself up by thinking I never really took advantage of the good runs but how can you really take advantage because you cannot really determine any runs and that’s just the way of the beast.

When you learn to accept these runs will come and go then the frustration of saying “I think I will give it up” will cease to bother you.

Just enjoy the punt for what it is m8 just a bit of fun and never bet more than you can afford.

MrF-I think your right,u know the problem though, the more u lose the more u get desperate and try mixing bets up that u wouldn’t normally do.I can only compare it to yourself when you’ve had 7 or 8 losing SS on the trot, all the stats back up the bets u pick but nothing goes right.Im certainly gonna leave Cup games and Scotish football alone from now on!!

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Gaz H, Scots results are no worse than anywhere else – it’s a myth.

  9. Speedy 9 years ago

Absolutely ridiculous Chelsea man city balls no chance both well chinned if Chelsea were beating arsenal 2-0 there is no way arsenal would have come back

  14. Wato 9 years ago

Gaz H Scotland is no different to all the other major leagues upsets and poor performances everywhere you look which doesn’t help us at times.

  15. AnOnYmoUS 9 years ago

I wonder with some of the big guns going out the FA cup will this affect the way Arsenal and Man Utd now approach the actual winning of the FA cup now ?

  16. Gaz H 9 years ago

Anonymous-losing money is never fun pal,I bet to win and if I don’t I’m angry.Otherwise i could take £50 to a strip club and guarantee having fun!! MrF and Wato your probably right guys,I’m probably bitter at the moment because everytime I bet on Scotish I lose!! Ha

  17. AnOnYmoUS 9 years ago

Gaz H I apologise if I offended you but that attitude towards betting is a recipe for disaster as it is for 99 % of punters.

But I wish you well with your betting buddy.

  18. Gaz H 9 years ago

Anonymous-u never offended me pal,I’m quite open minded towards betting and would never get to the the point where I’m desperate.
