ABERDEEN performed a great escape in Kazakhstan to keep alive their Europa League hopes.

The Dons have a decent chance of qualifying for the play-off stage after battling back from a horror start to lose 2-1 at Kairat Almaty last week.

After conceding two early goals Derek McInnes's men won the second half with Kenny McLean's strike and are 11-10 at McBookie to qualify.

A 1-0 win would be enough and it will be interesting to see how Almaty handle the marathon trip faced by the Scots a week ago.

They aren't terrific travellers at the best of times and lost 2-1 to at a poor Alashkert side in the previous round. There's no doubt though this will be another tough test for the Dons but roared on by a full house I'm backing them to qualify.

It will take a titanic effort and they'll be desperate not to concede to a side who created many chances in the first leg and bagged two wonder goals.

To win on the night Aberdeen are 23-20 with McBookie and William Hill with Almaty 14-5 at bet365 and the draw 12-5 with Skybet.

A 1-0 win would put McInnes's men through on away goals and pays 7-1 at Paddy Power while a 2-1 victory would force extra time and returns 9-1 at McBookie. I'm backing over 2.5 goals at a biggest 6-5 at 10bet as it could have been something like 5-2 last week.

In the same way Ronny Deila's been rotating between Leigh Griffiths and Nadir Ciftci the Dons have a dilemma over whether to start David Goodwillie or Adam Rooney.

If Rooney gets the nod I'll be on him at 5-1 with Paddy Power to break the deadlock.

The price on Aberdeen is drifting considerably and shortening on Kairat. O2.5 is drifting too.

In the first leg Almaty really sat back at 2-0 up and allowed Aberdeen back in the game. This might indicate that they are confident they can sit back, keep a clean sheet, and go through. Aberdeen are at their best on the break and I can see a very cagey first half with Aberdeen getting a breakthrough in the second half to go through. Draw – Aberdeen ht/ft is 4/1 and worth a punt.

Bet365 have went back to front. Aberdeen 23/20 to win in90mins and evens to qualify. U would have thought those odds would have been the other way about
