DUSTIN JOHNSON probably prevented The Open turning into a one-man show with a sparkling 65 that closed the gap on leader Rory McIlroy to four shots.
The Irishman and pre-tournament favourite was threatening to run away with it after a second successive 66 but Johnson had made it interesting and that will be a cracking pairing on Saturday and possibly in poor weather.
I didn't see as much of the action as I hoped for on Friday as I played for sixth time this week (I'm on holiday after all) but I'll be glued to the action on Saturday.
Five out of six of my antepost tips made the cut with the best placed being Rickie Fowler who lies joint third but any of Matteo Mannassero, Shane Lowry, Graeme McDowell or Martin Kaymer could give me a place with a strong weekend finish.
My only bet yesterday was on McDowell to win his threeball and while he shot up the leaderboard with a 69 he was beaten by Louis Oosthuizen who hit a 68. Oosthuizen and Tiger Woods were two I wrote off at the start of the tournament so he got his own back while Woods just made the cut after a struggling 77.
Today it will be all about McIlroy and Johnson. McIlroy is 4-5 with 888sport to collect the Claret Jug with Johnson 8-1 at Coral. Sergio Garcia is 18-1 with the likes of Betfred and bet365 and Fowler 22-1 at bet365.
The top 20 or so in the field are all well known and there are plenty of big names further down the field who are capable of a charge such as Phil Mickelson, Jason Dufner, Jason Day, Kaymer and Stenson so it should be a fascinating day.
I put up three singles on Thursday and one's a winner, one a loser and one still running. Tom Watson made the cut but Bradley Neil didn't and so can't be top amateur. Mannassero is four behind Francesco Molinari in the race to be top Italian.
The race for the Tour de France is over unless Vincenzo Nibali has a crash. The Italian won stage 13 to extend his lead at the top to three minutes, 37 seconds over Alejandro Valverde. Team Sky's Richie Porte, who began the day second overall, lost nine minutes.
Nibali is now a best 1-10 with boylesports to cross the line first in Paris a week tomorrow while Valverde is 16-1 at Coral.
Put up all your sports tips here including The Open and 14th stage of the Tour.
Tonight is the night to make money. Irishman Conor McGregor WILL beat Diego Brandao, its just a case of what round.
As good a fighter as McGregor is I would like to think Brandao can survive round one and more then likely get beaten in the second round.
While there is obvious risk in this, there is more risk in round 1 victory and odds of 9/5 arguably a bit skimpy although I could be made to look like a fool.
*NB Victory for McGregor in the second round at 7/2 PP*
McGregors record of F16/W14/L2 is convincing and he has won a total of 12 fights by KO and 1 by submission so this undoubtedly points to a McGregor win by KO and this is available at an overpriced 4/5 in Boylesports.
*NAP McGregor win by KO 4/5*
Cuz tonight’s gonna be a gud gud night!!, WOOOOOOHOOOOOO :) :)
cooldude
when is this boxing? Couldn’t find it in the list of bet365
I found it :)
Misafir its UFC and its live on 3e at 8pm!!
McGregors hand speed, sharp head movement and swift footwork mean opponents are often punching where he was, not where he is. This allows him counter strike with great effect. He also has tremendous power in his punches giving him a real efficiency of effort.
McGregor only needs to land once and it’s the beginning of the end for Brandao.
The most successful fighters today are proficient in wrestling (grappling), boxing (striking with hands), Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (submission holds via joint locks and chokes) and muay Thai (striking with hands and feet). Conor is excellent in all of these disciplines.
Fact: McGregors UFC debut knockout of Marcus Brimage in Sweden was the third quickest introductory win in featherweight history, taking 67 seconds. Lets hope its not so quick tonight :) :) :)
Stepanek d Karlovic @ 8/11

Ad, on KOHLSCHREIBER @ 16/1 and STEPANEK @ 5/1 outright in both tournaments so today tennis is my main sport. 14.30 and 19.00 I will be sitting in my tennis whites with wrist and headbands on swinging my racquet whilst watching the live streaming :)

Would you advice a decent bet on your boxing? I mean how confident are you about that
Misafir, if its boxing your after talk to the expert Raal.
Cleveland Indians @ Detroit Tigers
Cleveland Indians @ 1.73
If you’re feeling adventurous Cleveland Indians -1.5 @ 2.25
The Indians were shut out by Sanchez until he had to be relieved after 6 innings, the Indians then went on to smash 7 in the 7th and went on to win 9-3. Today the Tigers are giving VerHagen his MLB debut, with the scout reports I’ve read saying he could be ok as a reliever but needs development to be a starter. Indians have also won 9 of their last 13, so they are showing good form too.
Also two overs-
Rays @ Twins over 7.5 @ 2.1
Cubs @ Diamondbacks over 7.5 @ 1.67

Afternoon Guys, Catalan v Wakefield ko 5pm
The extra Super league game from Stade Gilbert Brutus in Perpignan. It is the Dragons who are the strong favourites with Wakefield Wildcats getting a 14pt start on the handicap.
Last Saturday Catalan appeared to want to beat up Wigan, rather than beating them on the pitch and they got mauled. The result of that bad tempered game means Vincent Duport and Greg Mounis are suspended. The Wildcats have captain Danny Kirmond back and that will be a big boost.
My main bet is in the try scorer market. Morgan Escare is were I usually go when the Dragons are playing but he is 8/15. Instead I will be on Elliot Whitehead who has 14 tries in 17 games. He has scored in each of his last two games and scored two tries when these sides met earlier in the season. He is 5/4 Ladbrokes.
ELLIOT WHITEHEAD TO SCORE 5/4
Good luck if your having a bet
Anybody hav any darts bets on 2nite
Latest score Catalan 16-0 Wakefield 22mins
ELLIOT WHITEHEAD TO SCORE 5/4 WON :)
Wakefield cannot cope with the high humidity that happens with Catalan home games at this time of the season.
Terry Jenkins EVS paddypower to beat Ian White at 7pm in darts looks a cracking bet to me
My tennis pick this evening is Karlovic 6/5 to beat Stepanek
Stepanek to beat Karlovic at 8/11 is my tennis nap of the year. Fill your boots!
Tried to put up a tennis tip earlier but couldn’t get online. It was for Mayer to beat Kohlschreiber at 13/8. Easy win! :-D
I honestly can’t see Stepanek losing tonight. He has a great record against Karlovic and in my opinion he’s playing as well as ever. Sure, Karlovic is serving great but so is Radek and he is far more likely to break serve. Radek won their last match (this year) 6-1 6-2 ! Suffice to say I’ve put a very large bet on Stepanek and feel very confident.
Aircon the game they played this year was on clay,i would beat Karlovic on clay, the other head to heads were over 4 years ago so dont thimk they add up to much
WORLD MATCHPLAY DARTS TONIGHT 7PM
Evening guys, one of my favourite sporting occasions starts tonight the matchplay at the Winter Gardens. I will be in Blackpool for the semi finals and final. I posted my ante-post bets on yesterdays thread.
Ian White v Terry Jenkins
A good game to kick off the tournament in as much as it is really tough game to call. Ian White is the 10/11 favourite, whilst Terry Jenkins is evens various. It is the world no 17 v world no 18. Their head to head reads 5 wins each, although White as won 4 out the last 5.
I just fancy Jenkins here, the last time we saw him on tv here made the final of the first major of the season the UK open. He as also won a tour event since that final and his big stage experience could see him through a really tight game. In the UK open he hit six maximums in the semi final when beating MVG and even though he lost to Lewis 11-1 in the final he got 4. This format is very similar. In a game which could have plenty of legs in it I will take over 5.5 Jenkins 180s at evens Betvictor.
JENKINS TO BEAT WHITE 1/1
JENKINS O5.5 MATCH 180s 1/1
Simon Whitlock v Kevin Painter
A tough looking game, Whitlock has won 7 of the last 8 meetings and won on the tour recently, but 2/5 isn’t a great value bet. Whitlock when he is on song can be deadly on his finishing and I will be on him checking out Over 108.5 which is the line set by Coral at 5/6. This game could go the distance and I will be on overs again this time on total legs. Over 16.5 legs is 11/10 Paddy Power.
WHITLOCK OVER 108.5 CHECKOUT 5/6
OVER 16.5 TOTAL LEGS 11/10
Finally a bet that gives you a interest throughout the night is a 170 Checkout on the night. Whitlock in particular leaves the top out shot probably more than any other player, and MVG is capable of producing the crowd pleasing finish. It is 7/2 at Coral and is worth a small stakes bet which will run right up to the last leg of the night.
170 CHECKOUT YES 7/2 (small stakes)
Good luck if your having a bet
Took painter plus 2.5 at 4/5 and mcgregor ko at 8/11 for bit of interest
Estrella to win a set 10/11 Paddy Power v Tomic
Conor McGregor to win in round two lost!!
