Apr 4: Jordan’s Sports Tips & Chat

Jordans_SportsTips

IT was an epic Sunday of sport yesterday with the West Indies pipping England to World T20 glory thanks to four consecutive sixes in the final over from Carlos Braithwaite.

Novak Djokovic also made history by claiming his sixth Miami Open crown – taking his Masters tally to a record 28 titles – while Lewis Hamilton had to settle for third at the Bahrain Grand Prix as Nico Rosberg bagged the honours.

After all that excitement it’s a pretty quiet Monday although the tennis circuit keeps on rolling with a couple of ATP and WTA tournaments.

British No.2 Heather Watson is a 25-1 shot at totesport for the Katowice Open title and begins her title tilt today against Kristtyna Piskova.

If there’s any other action that takes your fancy then let’s hear your tips and chat and good luck with your bets.

Well my Wrestlemania tip came up one short. Thanks Jordan for saving the day with your NBA tip after Man Utd and Inter both stung me on the footy.

    A brand new week 😀

    Good luck everyone today

    Blue Jays @ 1.95 *won*

    Today’s bet
    Red Sox @ Indians
    Red Sox @ 1.83

Red Sox starting with Price today, who is a beast on the mound. Kluber had a poor 2015, picking up 16 losses, even with a respectable 3.49era.
Like the Blue Jays yesterday, I think the Red Sox will have to much fire power.

Cycling: Pais Vasco 2016 (4-9 April)

Both bets for the Tour of Flanders were losers yesterday. Today the tour of the Basque country (Pais Vasco) starts. I will have below bet on the overall classification.

    Match-ups:

    Simon Yates to beat Costa
    Mollema to beat Adam Yates
    Double @ 2.21 with Betfair

Nothing I like for stage 1. Too much questions over who will and won’t survive the climbs.

MLB is finally upon us (apart from the 3 games last night!) and one of the golden rules of gambling is “bet on what you know”. With that in mind and irony fully noted, I will look at a market I have never touched before but know very well – The NL Central Division – Team Win Totals.

It doesn’t take a baseball guru to know that it’s a 3-horse race for the NL Central this year – Cardinals, Cubbies and Pirates. Who will win out of those 3 and how many wins will they get? Who knows, not me that’s for sure. They will all play and take wins off each other all season.

No, it is the other 2 teams that interest me, the Brewers and (although it’s painful to say it) my beloved Reds. Both of these teams are in a really tough, competitive division and both have very similar goals for 2016 – REBUILD and re-stock in the minor-leagues, trying not to lose too many games in the process.

Last year the Reds were meant to contend and ended up winning just 64 games (remember that figure). This year there have been ZERO upgrades in any area (perhaps Cozart coming back from injury counts?) and at the same time, lost a whole host of their best players; Stud-pitcher Cueto, the very reliable Leake, top HR hitter and all-star Frazier and the flame-throwing closer Chapman, just to name a few. All of these empty slots have been taken over by minor-leaguers and journeymen.

With this in mind, when I saw this market and noticed that the O/U figure was set at 70.5, I literally laughed out loud. What am I missing here? The front office have actually said they are rebuilding and so are not bothered about results too much this year. Also, the chances are that the remaining decent players such as Bruce, Phillips, Cozart and even Votto could well be gone come July to contending teams. Don’t get me started on probably the worst pitching rotation and bullpen I have ever seen… It’s going to be a long season for me.

In a nutshell, if the reds hit last year’s total of 64 wins, they will have done VERY well but even that will be 7 too few for that line to go over! The story follows a very similar narrative in Milwaukee. It’s going to be a race as to who can finish last and have the highest draft pick next year. If Ryan Braun goes down (as he usually does) they will be utterly toothless in offence and have a comparable pitching staff to the Reds.

Therefore, here are the bets I have put on (knowing full well it will be another 6 months before I see it again):

7 points – Reds UNDER 70.5 wins @1.83 (best price at PaddyPower)
3 points – Reds & Brewers UNDER 70.5 wins double @3.27 (best price at 888)

This staking ensures small profit if just the Reds hit. Good luck everyone and looking forward to a profitable season – I see Dazzler is up and at them already!

Not a game that I would recommend anyone to bet on tbh, Nova played pretty much the perfect game against the Sooners and although they won’t shoot 70% again in this game, they defended really well against the Sooners. Tar Heels will defend better than the Sooners but Nova just has a lot of fire power both in the starting 5 and on the bench. I would stay away unless you are desperate for something to bet on!

@nflfan certainly don’t think Nova will win and its a small spread so might be worth a couple of points but not for me. Tar Heels size should be the difference here.

Cheers for the words gents. Won’t re-post it, you know it won.

@huggybear518, too many bets but well done mate. You needed a night like that.
