Sep 17: Scottish Betting Preview

WITH just five teams in Scotland still unbeaten punters are now asking themselves whether any can go through the whole season without losing a game.

It’s a tall order especially since clubs would rest players or ease off at the end of the season having won the title.

However, McBookie report support for Celtic and Hibs not to lose a league game. They go 8-1 on Celtic and 16-1 Hibs.

McBookie spokesman Paul Petrie said: “There is still a long way to go and normally a team finally slips up but both Celtic and Hibs fans seem confident of an invincible season.”

The other teams still to lose are Queen of the South, Brechin and Forfar.

Meanwhile, following his heroics last weekend when he saved three penalties McBookie offering 10-1 on Dundee United Cammy Bell stopping another at Falkirk in the live game.

If you’re looking for a bet that doubles your money this weekend what about uniting rivals Rangers and Celtic.

Both halves of the Old Firm are hurting after heavy losses and I’m on them to bounce back.

Rangers boss Mark Warburton is determined to repair some of the damage caused by the 5-1 defeat to Celtic while the Parkhead side want to wipe out the memory of their 7-0 battering in Barcelona.

Joey Barton won’t play after his training-ground bust-up but will that really weaken Rangers? Not on what he’s produced so far.

McBookie go 4-1 Barton, who faces showdown talks with manager Mark Warburton on Monday, will not play for the club again.

Petrie added: “It seems Barton doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut and he could be talking his way out of Ibrox.”

Barton started the season as 8-1 to win the Player of the Year and won the man-of-the match award in the first league game against Hamilton but it has been downhill since then.

If Barton does play for Rangers again the firm is offering 16-1 he is sent off in his next match

A double on Rangers to beat Ross County today and Celtic at Inverness tomorrow pays 11-10 at McBookie and I’ve seen worse bets.

Of the two I’d worry more about the Ibrox side who welcome County to their home for the first time.

County have struggled with one point from two outings against Motherwell and Hamilton and for their sake let’s hope they don’t turn up, ahem, like tourists.

Rangers are a best 1-2 with William Hill and McBookie and to win with both scoring you can have 11-5 at 888sport.

The Ibrox men have conceded in every league game – in fact they’ve conceded first each time. County are 14-1 with bet365 to win and many will be tempted by the firm’s 11-4 on the Dingwall side to score first.

To net at any time County are 4-6 at boylesports while bet365 offer both teams to score at 10-11.

Joe Garner netted Rangers’ consolation last week and is worth a look for first scorer at 9-2 with Paddy Power.

Celtic head to the Highlands hoping their driver doesn’t take a wrong turn and end up back in Spain.

They’ve had enough pain for one week and should find Inverness an easier proposition. No Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez or Neymar to worry about but again I can see a Celtic win with both teams on target at 23-10 with William Hill.

As good as Barca were Brendan Rodgers’s side defended poorly and Inverness can be backed to score at 5-6 with Stan James.

Moussa Dembele went from Old Firm hero to Euro zero with his missed penalty but can  find the net in the Highlands. He is 4-1 at bet365 to score first and 11-10 to net.

Celtic have often struggled in Inverness, winning one of their last four, but not this time. They’ve been scoring at almost four a game and are 6-4 at Skybet to net three or more.

ICT could struggle to handle a pacey frontline and a penalty to be awarded is a possibility at 13-5 with Paddy Power.

Today’s other Premiership games look tough to call although I like both to score at St Johnstone v Hearts at 15-16 with 888sport.

In the Championship Hibs are going for a record sixth win in a row to start the season and should get it against Ayr. They are no bigger than 1-3 at bet365 but Betway go evens on the minus one handicap.

Jason Cummings has claimed most of his side’s goals and is 7-2 at McBookie to break the deadlock.

Match of the day between Falkirk and Dundee United should go over 2.5 goals (4-5, BetBright) and I like Queen of the South to beat Raith at 7-5 with McBookie.

Dumbarton are big at 23-10 with Marathonbet at home to struggling St Mirren but maybe Dumbarton draw no bet is the way to go at 11-8 with Ladbrokes.

In League One Brechin have taken over at the top and meet Livingston who knocked Alloa off the summit last weekend. Can’t pick a winner but like both to score at 8-13 with Stan James.

League Two’s been the place for goals recently with 48 in the last two rounds – and every side scoring in those 10 games.

A repeat both to score fivefold returns 11-1 at bet365 and an over 3.5 goals fivefold is better at 14-1.
