May 7: Scottish Betting Preview

MrF_Rangers

RANGERS are trying to bounce back from two defeats to Celtic by winning the other Glasgow derby … at Partick Thistle.

Rangers have ruled this fixture this season and in fact since 1993. They have won all three league meetings and it’s 24 years since they last crashed to Glasgow’s third team. Anyone looking at those stats will jump on Gers at a best 23-20 with McBookie.

However, dig deeper and you will find a side in disarray against a confident that’s celebrated a top-six Premiership finish for the first time.

Thistle’s will be keen to reverse the trend of the past 24 years and their only defeat in six was to the Ibrox men. Players have been talking about not doing themselves justice against Gers this season and wanting to put that right.

I have little faith in Pedro Caixinha’s men and the Portuguese boss has a massive amount of work to do in the summer just to make his side competitive in the race for second. Unfortunately for neutrals you can already hand Celtic next season’s title.

Thistle are 13-5 at McBookie and I’m interested in the Jags draw no bet at 6-4 with McBookie.

Kris Doolan, who I saw destroy the Bankies in the juniors a few years ago, has been in superb form with eight goals in his last 11. He’s worth a look at 21-10 with Ladbrokes to score and he is 6-1 at McBookie to net first.

Kenny Miller’s one of only two or three Gers stars to come out this season with credit and he is 2-1 at Betfred to net after hitting his side’s consolation in the 5-1 defeat against Celtic last week.

Aberdeen should bounce back from last week’s home defeat to St Johnstone by winning at Hearts.

The Dons have won two and drawn one against the Jambos this season and are 3-1 at bet365 to win to nil.

It will be an emotional day at Tynecastle – the last game before their ancient main stand is demolished. Ian Cathro’s men will be keen to mark the occasion with a win but I don’t think they’re good enough.

So it’s Aberdeen to win at 6-5 with Marathonbet and consider Player of the Year contender Jonny Hayes to celebrate his nomination with a goal at 10-3 with Betway.
