THE Voice of Value is an amateur tipster with a love for racing and jumps in particular. He caught the bug at an early age when his grandfather had a share in a winning chaser and his annual Grand National and Cheltenham guides have been well received our the past few years.
We’re delighted to have him aboard and here is the sixth of his detailed day-one write-ups and tips for the greatest show on turf this week.
Toby Balding National Hunt Chase
– 4.40 p.m.
– Stamina-sapping test for Novice Chasers
– Only amateur jockeys are allowed to take part
This one is a real slog over 4 miles which is an unusually long race and will test their stamina. It’s the all-day session in the pub that sometimes sees off the flashy drinkers and leaves the real hardened drinkers standing at the end of the night.
It seems that Don Poli will NOT run in this race and will instead opt for the RSA Chase on Wednesday so if that is the case I think that leaves the coast clear for Sego Success to give a good account of himself for Alan King. He has managed to get Sam Waley Cohen booked in this amateur riders race which is a big positive for a horse who jumps well and has the form to suggest that he will be okay with this marathon trip. If you are looking for some each way value the vibes are good about Thunder and Roses at a decent price so he might be an Irish raider to take each way.
Main Selection: Sego Success – 5-1 (Totesport)
Each way selection: Thunder and Roses – 20-1 (Totesport)
Sego Success – 2 pts win at 5-1
Thunder and Roses – 0.5pts each way at 20-1
