THE main action comes from Sandown om Saturday but I can't find an angle into the Coral Eclipse which is the big race on the card and I find myself drawn mainly to Haydock where there are one or two that have caught my eye as good value bets on a nice card.

3.15 Haydock

The one I like here is one of the outsiders in the shape of EUCHEN GLEN who won nicely at Ayr last time, looking like he benefited from the longer trip. This is a big step up in quality from that race, no doubt about it, but he is in off bottom weight in the handicap and the course layout at Haydock is quite similar to Ayr which seemed to suit him last time – particularly the long finishing straight.

He might still have some improvement in him and if he can cruise into this with a nice low weight there won't be many staying up the straight better than him. A small each way is the order of the day here. Try to use a bookie with best odds guaranteed because I don't imagine this one will be hugely popular in the market so he might even go off bigger than 20-1 as the market moves for the more fashionable ones.

4.25 Haydock

SUMMERGHAND really looked the part last time and the horse he beat that day has won nicely since. With Daniel Tudhope in the plate and the promise of more to come he looks a nice price to me.

2.40 Haydock

I tend not to tip short-priced favourites because it's the road to ruin in the long run but ABINGDON absolutely looks the part for the Lancashire Oaks. She is the best of these to my eye by a good bit and has the added benefit of Richard Kingscote in the saddle who rides this course better than pretty much anyone.

The price looks too big and I could see her being backed in a bit shorter by the time they go to post. If you like a bigger price you could be adventurous and double up Abingdon with Summerghand.

2.25 Sandown

There is one I thought was too big a price at Sandown. MYTHICAL MADNESS is 20-1 in some places and if we ignore his last run at Royal Ascot he is in pretty good form. I noticed the horse he beat two starts ago won nicely at Haydock on Friday which suggests that form is solid.

Silvestre De Sousa takes the ride and he has got on well with the horse in the past. It just struck me as a pretty big price and I don't think David O'Meara would be sending the horse down to Sandown for a day out. Worth a small each way.

If you are having a bet in the Coral Eclipse my hunch is Barney Roy is overpriced at 3-1 but I have reservations about the whole lot of them so I'm not going to put a tip up for that race. Good luck over the weekend!
