FEB 19: SCOTTISH FOOTBALL TIPS

THERE are two games in the SPL and Celtic can continue their stoll to the title
with a win at St Johnstone. Neil Lennon’s men, a best 4-9 at bet365, bounced back from their disappointment against Juventus to hit Dundee United for six at the weekend.

Anthony Stokes cracked a double against the Arabs and is 9-2 at William Hill to hit the opener at McDiarmid Park. However, he’ll have plenty of competition from Kris Commons (5-1, bet365) and Gary Hooper (10-3, BetVictor).

Celtic have won their last three SPL games by at least two goals and while they lost in Perth last September they should win comfortably.

Lennon’s men have an 18-point lead at the top and the Irish boss wants to wrap up the title as quickly as possible. Back Celtic minus one at 13-10 at BetVictor.

Second-placed Motherwell were impressive 3-0 winners against Inveress at the weekend and can continue their bid to finish runners-up by beating Dundee Utd at Fir Park.

Well are 6-5 with Ladbrokes and Paddy Power and Michael Higdon must be worth a look at 5-1 with Coral for first goal.

United, who were overrun at Parkhead, are 12-5 with BetVictor but they always look like scoring to try over 2.75 goals at 10-11 with bet365.

The only title race still alive in Scotland is in the First Division where Morton lead Partick Thistle by eight points having played three games more.

Thistle have a chance to close the gap tonight with a home meeting against Hamilton and it’s one they should win. Since boss Jackie McNamara left for Dundee United, the Jags have only had one game under interim boss Alan Archibald and it was a draw at the weekend against Morton.

So they’re continuing to perform well and at home have won 10 and drawn one, scoring 36 goals. So Firhill is a fortress and although Accies, with two defeats in six, will make it tough this should be a Jags win at 8-13 with William Hill.

The other First Division game between Falkirk and Livingston could either way but there should be goals. The last four meetings have seen both score with a total of 20 strikes.

Goals are also on the menu when Brechin meet Ayr in the Second Division, with Ayr’s last four totalling 20 and 15 being blasted in Brechin’s previous four.

The fight to avoid finishing bottom of the Third Division is hotting up with Stirling Albion unbeaten in three in their quest to catch East Stirling who are four points ahead.

Improving Albion can make up some ground by beating Annan at home. They are 13-8 at Coral and BetVictor.

Steven, sorry I was forgetting the other two were postponed because Jackie MacNamara left at the end of January.

Sticking with Wanyama and Mulgrew but sticking £50 on Ambrose to score anytime. He is as short as 6/1 with Paddy Power so in my opinion the 12/1 on offer from William Hill represents decent value.

    Wooohoooo

Lost a few quid on Wanyana and Mulgrew but made £1000 on this guy. Overall profit of £700.

£50 on Ambrose to score anytime @ 12/1
£10 on Ambrose to score first goal @ 33/1

    Get in there!!

Chris, are you happier he won you hard cash as opposed to getting a lift in the contest. Had a feeling he’d score after you flagged it up.

Yes Paul happy it earned me some money. Did you not back him? 12/1 was a good price. Pity about the competition but still plenty of time to get a good win.

Chris, didn’t back him. I feel I’d need to back the likes of Ambrose, Wanyama and Mulgrew all the time as you do to make it pay and that’s not the way I bet. You had one winner on the contest and every other bet between the two of you was down so still anyone’s game.
