Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle
- Almost 3 miles
- This is one for the best young hurdlers over a longer distance (stayers)
There are question marks over how many of these will stay the trip coming up the hill at the end of the gruelling 3 miles because the race is always run at a frantic pace.
BARTERS HILL keeps doing enough in all his races and remains unbeaten without really looking particularly impressive. We are in the great position of having backed him in our accumulator yesterday so we are onto a nice big payout if he wins and we probably don’t need to back him again. There might be some each way value though…
I was livid that Long Dog didn’t run in the Neptune after connections stating that it would be his target all along. He hasn’t run over anything near 3 miles but clearly they believe he can stay the trip and Ruby takes the ride. At 7/1 I think the price is a bit short now for an each way punt but I know I’ll be raging if he bolts up here. I may have a small ‘saver’ on the nose just in case but I can’t recommend that as a tip to everyone else because I don’t think 7/1 is value.
I tipped Up For Review antepost and he continues to hold appeal although I’m disappointed that Ruby has plumped for Long Dog. Up For Review had a stinker of a race last time out at Doncaster but Willie Mullins’ horses were all poor that day and he subsequently said that they had been sick. If you ignore that run he is still an exciting prospect. His win in the Grade 2 race at Punchestown on Hogmanay was very impressive and he shouldn’t have an issue with the better ground. He is one that should out-gallop most of these if Doncaster was just a blip and he looks the value pick to me.
