EUROPA LEAGUE betting was a minefield (as usual) but it took an incredible miss by Tom Huddlestone to beat my 7-2 Top Treble.
The Hull midfielder missed a penalty in the 0-0 draw at Trencin then when faced with an open goal for the rebound blazed the ball over the bar.
Huddlestone later took to twitter to apologise for the terrible miss but does that make feel any better? Not likely. My message to him is: Grow your hair back and you might be stronger!
I called Aberdeen correctly by backing them plus three at 4-9 away to Real Sociedad but St Johnstone were surprised by a Spartak Trnava side who by all accounts played really well.
For the Super Single I picked the wrong Kazakhs. I flagged up Shakhter Karagandy but plumped for Astana who drew 1-1 with AIK.
As usual on a Friday I'll be concentrating on my weekend Daily Record column but before heading to the office for my final live Commonwealth Games shift. I can now tell you more about the pommel horse than horse racing and I'm sure that will come in handy in the future.
There are a host of friendlies to look out but most will focus on the Irish League games and French Ligue 2 encounters.
I've picked up some tips but don't have time to put up much reasoning so take them or leave them. The Daily Double is Belgian champs Anderlecht at Oostende and short-priced Longford Town at Shamrock Rovers B in Ireland.
In the Irish top flight there are two big games – St Pat's v Sligo and Cork v Dundalk. I'm tempted by leaders Dundalk at second-placed Cork but it will be a hard-fought. My thinking is if Dundalk can win away to Hadjuk Split they can defeat Cork but the jury's out on this one.
St Pat's lie third six points behind Dundalk and will be looking to take advantage of dropped points by one or both of the sides above them. They also attract me at 5-6 with Ladbrokes but their form has been patchy and again Sligo will make it tough.

Raal, while you have shown us your animosity towards Khan in the past no matter what way you look at the guy is talented. Im not saying he’s a world beater but physically over the last year or two he has really bulked up.
I have read articles online saying he should have got to fight Mayweather even though Mayweather would have blown him away.
dudes, it is not meant to be seen as animosity mate. I prefer to look at fighters for how good they actually are as opposed to how good the are hyped up to be, that is where you can be a step ahead of the bookies. Khan was very overrated in my opinion and he himself has probably realised he had to improve massively to keep up with the top fighters in his weight division. If he can genuinely compete at the top I would be delighted as I love seeing true fighters.

Well they’re 1/25, so I’d say the bookies are backing them for an easy win. So you’d expect them to take the first half. The way to look at it is, if you have doubts, cash out, cos you’ll be more gutted you lost 40 quid, than you could have won 20.

Could be right about rovers, but Drogheda are no bad side there results at the start of the season show that, unbeaten in the first 6 games, the players rebelled against Robbie Horgan, and just wouldnt play for him in the next 10 games, once he went results have improved, also Limerick are a poor side wouldn’t be surprised to see the dragged into the relegation play off
Should be a great night at the cross, cannot see us winning against a very good Dundalk side, Caulfied knows this also and he keeps saying he will be happy with qualification for europe, there’s been a bit of comming and going in the last few weeks here and I think it’s upset things a little.
If I could get odds on bookings or sending off in the game I would look seriously at this, as we play a very phyiscal game at home and it’s a very tight pitch.

Lots of funny words can get moderated Blancos, no problems mate. Taylor was lethal his percentage of punches landed to the number thrown must be incredible. I had a very large bet on him at 13/8 at beginning of the week but did not tip him simply because Amateur Boxing Judges simply cannot keep up correctly with the speed of some of the fighters and will not always call the correct result but Taylor fought a brilliant fight. Glad you were on the horse as well ;)

Not heard from the regular MLS posters so here goes. Both teams are in fine form, the hosts undeafeted in 7 games and the Union have lost once in the last 10 games across all competitions. In Phili’s last 10 they have seen BTTS x8 in those games. Kansas have seen BTTS come up in 6/7 games. Kansas have gone over 2.5 and BTTS in each of their last 4 games.Phili are certainly more prolific in going over 2.5 goals and have done so in 66.7% of their games. Kansas have only seen over 2.5 in 47.6% of their games. The last 4 head to head games have seen the away team win the match. 3/4 of the games have seen both teams score and the game go over 2.5 goals. These are two of the most offensive teams while Kansas also bost the meanest defence while Phili boast the third worst defence having conceded 35 goals two more than they have scored. Has the makings of a fire cracker. Dom Dwyer has already been mentioned I believe, he has 14 goals and shoots for fun so will have small stakes on him. GL

Hello friends I had a very long day at work today but have managed to look at tonight’s MLS game.

Sporting Kansas City v Philadelphia Union
Philadelphia has hit over 2.5 goals in 66.7% of all their matches this season. KC just under 50% with 10 of their 21 games seeing 3+ goals.
KC has scored 15 goals in their 10 home games while conceding 8. Their home games are averaging 2.3 goals per game. KC has now gone over the total of 2.5 in 4 straight games, all wins and all 2-1 results. They have kept 4 clean sheets at home and have failed to score once in their 10 home games.
Philadelphia has scored 17 and allowed 19 in their 12 away games for a per match average of 3. Philadelphia has only 1 away clean sheet this season in their 12 games. They are 9-1 over 2.5 in their last 10 games overall with 6 of those 9 seeing 4 or more total goals. Their last match was a 1-1 draw at Chicago but before then had scored 16 goals in their previous 6. They have scored 3 goals in 6 of their last 9 games overall. Hi MonLosBlancas, not placed any bets yet myself mate. I wouldn’t put you off it as there could be goals and Kansas are pretty decent at home. Personally I like Philadelphia myself as a team, they are possibly under-rated but it will be a hard ask for them to take something from Kansas. They have however come out of this fixture well before and have a lot of players in good form. I agree with Frank and his write up if thats any help. Haha let’s hope not! Le Toux! He’s in some form at the moment, I’ve been on a few fan blogs where they have been raving about him. Funny you should mention him as I was just looking at him as well! It’s hard backing against your own club, I’m a Liverpool fan and it doesn’t really rest easy with me but in a way you probably have more knowledge on your own club than any other. If I had to take an MLS team it would be Portland Timbers- my fav player is Urruti. :)

Well, Ronaldo won’t play any part. I’m not sure why they’re favourites with the bookies. Perhaps they’re aware of how popular Real Madrid will be with the punters who don’t look into much. I personally think Madrid’s style of play will make it tough for United and they’ll be looking to bounce back. Will be close though.
Ok so I took my MLS bets a little while back after teams were announced-

Philadelphia goal before 72 minutes 5/6 Casey/Le Toux anytime scorers 3/1 & 10/3 (split stake) main bets. Casey first TEAM goal 15/4 & Dwyer first TEAM goal 13/8 smaller bets.
Split stake- basically with the prices being like they were for Casey & Le Toux I split my usual stake for an anytime scorer and put 50% Casey & 50% Le Toux. Even if only one scores I will still see profit (not as much but obviously a better chance with two) and if they both lose I will just lose like usual! Haha. Basically I couldn’t pick one out if the two! :)

With regards to Barca and the fallen god that is Messi.
Messi embarrased himself after the final whistle in the World Cup. He didn’t want to go up to accept the trophy because he is a petulant child, & wanted the World Cup. He didn’t even attempt to console the young players of the Argentine squad.
He could have easily redeemed himself but giving the trophy or even his shirt to one of the many 5 year olds to 80 year old fans sitting crying. Problem was he didn’t see them, too busy being in a huff. I can see a barca game this season where he plays poorly, walks up to pick up the ball, sticks it up his jersey & heads for the tunnel…………..
To be honest, I believe although we have our faults at Chelsea, the players at Barca and Madrid are both petulant.
I think they all expect to win everything, though for me if you’re excluding Ronaldo/Messi. I’d love Di Maria/Iniesta for me they’re unreal. We don’t need either as such though, so if I could take anyone from Madrid it would be Varane, kid is ridiculous.
Messi/Ronaldo debate is impossible to settle, all comes down to bias such as the Lampard/Gerrard debate. Good luck for the season ahead.
