RALPH BECKETT landed this fillies’ Group 2 event last year with Simple Verse and MELODIC MOTION (3.00) must have a major chance of doubling up at Doncaster.
She is the winner of three handicaps this summer and finished right on the heels of Endless Time and Dubka at the rain-lashed Qatar Goodwood Festival. This galloping track may suit her better.
EUGINIO (4.05) scored over 10 furlongs at Sandown in July but didn’t fare quite so well on a return visit when hampered by winner Thundering Home edging right under pressure. Andrea Atzeni had manoeuvred Richard Hannon’s colt from behind a wall of horses into a challenging position and would have finished closer than fifth. Euginio’s fourth to the enterprisingly-ridden Frankuus on softer ground at Haydock was another sound effort.
The jump jockeys get their day in the sun over the Derby course and recent Epsom winner C’EST NO MOUR (3.10) should give Leighton Aspell a thrill.
C’est No Mour handled Tattenham Corner and Epsom’s notorious camber without mishap and my selection that day, Hollywood Road, was beaten fair and square. He is 3lb better off for just under two lengths but I fancy C’est No Mour will confirm placings.
TRAVELLER (2.35) is stepped up to a mile after being involved in a blanket finish here over 7f 16 days ago.
There will be plenty of pace on if Alnasl and Heart Of Gold stand their ground and Callum Shepherd, who rode the winner of this race last year, should get a nice tow into the race.
