THE Premier League is back with a bang on Saturday, as Manchester City and Liverpool do battle in a blockbuster showdown at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side are currently occupying top spot in the table, while Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are just one place back and one point behind the reigning champions.

The Citizens signed off for the international break with a frantic 4-4 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, in a game that brought up one of my bets.

That chaotic stalemate has allowed the chasing pack to make inroads on City, so Pep and Co will be keen to rebound with a win over Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime.

The Anfield outfit are arguably flying under the radar in their pursuit of another Premier League title, with the visitors losing just one of their opening 12 league games of the season.

Last time out, Liverpool returned to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 home win against Brentford.

Outright Betting

Manchester City have won each of their last 15 Premier League home matches and the bookmakers fully expect that run to continue, with a home win trading at 7/10 (Bet 365).

Each of Liverpool’s last two top-flight road games have ended level and the same outcome here can be backed at 16/5 (Bet 365) while the away win is as big as 18/5 (Ladbrokes).

Betting Angles

Man City are a tad too skinny to side with at the above-mentioned price so I’ll instead dip into the Bet Builder and combine both Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah to have a shot on target at 11/10 (Bet 365).

After banging  in a record-breaking 36 Premier League goals last season, City hitman Haaland is showing no signs of slowing down, having hit 13 strikers across his opening 12 top-flight appearances this term.

That sample includes five goals from his last three league matches, not to mention the Norwegian goal-machine is averaging 2.25 shots on target per 90 in the Premier League season.

I’ll therefore back Haaland to hit the target at least once during this heavyweight showdown, and to boost the price, I’ll also back Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to follow suit.

The Liverpool talisman has 10 league goals to his name this term and he should get chances to add to that tally when faced with a Man City’s backline that has been breached in eight of their 12 top-flight tussles this term to date.

Therefore, with an action-packed encounter anticipated, coupled with the fact that both Haaland and Salah are likely to be penalty duty for their respective sides, the aforementioned 11/10 (Bet 365) Bet Builder holds plenty of appeal.

I’ll also opt for another player-based selection and throw together both Rodri and Trent Alexander-Arnold to commit a foul at even-money with Bet 365.

City's Spanish midfield maestro has been their chief hatchet-man this term, averaging 1.5 fouls per 90, while Liverpool’s inverted full-back  Alexander-Arnold will  be in for a tough afternoon given that he will be up against either Jack Grealish or Jeremy Doku.

This match between Manchester City and Liverpool will be played on Nov 25, 2023 and kick off at 12:30. Check below for our tipsters best Manchester City vs Liverpool prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
