Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to carry their recent good form into the FA Cup as they host Brighton & Hove Albion in a fifth round clash. Wolves have really caught the eye lately and should have the upper hand over Brighton, who have been a bit erratic.

Wolverhampton Wanderers reached the fifth round of the FA Cup thanks to a 2-0 victory at West Brom. They were mostly untroubled throughout the encounter with goals in each half from Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha earning them the win.

Things have been particularly smooth for Wolverhampton Wanderers in recent weeks, with three wins in their last four matches across all competitions. Gary O’Neil’s men head into Wednesday’s clash off the back of a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United in a Premier League fixture last Sunday.

Molineux has also been a solid hunting ground for Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are unbeaten in 10 of their last 12 home matches. Among their results in that run are 2-1 victories over Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

A 5-2 victory over Sheffield United was enough to see Brighton progress to the FA Cup fifth round. Joao Pedro netted a hat-trick while Facundo Buonanotte and Danny Welbeck were also on target.

Unlike Wolves, Brighton have been a bit erratic in recent weeks, claiming two wins from their last five matches across all competitions. They have also suffered two defeats in that run and needed a late equaliser from Lewis Dunk to earn a 1-1 draw with Everton in a Premier League fixture last weekend.

Brighton may have earned a 5-0 victory at Sheffield United in their previous away fixture but their record on the road has been far from stellar. Roberto De Zerbi’s men had suffered two straight defeats before the trip to Bramall Lane, including a 4-0 hammering at struggling Luton Town.

How the bookies view it

The bookies appear to be expecting a closely fought encounter with a Wolves win priced at 6/4 by William Hill while BetVictor is also offering odds of 6/4 for a Brighton victory. A draw is set at odds of 11/4 by bet365.

Head to head

Brighton have a 15-5 advantage with 12 draws from 32 previous matches against Wolves. The Seagulls are also unbeaten against their rivals this season, claiming a 4-1 victory at Molineux before battling to a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture.

Players to watch

Pedro Neto is usually in the thick of things for Wolves and could be worth keeping an eye on. The attacker was on target in the previous round and is priced at 18/5 to get on the score sheet on Wednesday.

With top scorer Joao Pedro doubtful for Wednesday’s clash, Danny Welbeck will be the one to watch for Brighton. The striker was among the goals in the previous round and is priced at 5/2 by Unibet to find the net.

Anything else catch the eye?

The last meeting at Molineux produced over 4.5 goals, which is priced at 4/1 by bet365. Over 3.5 goals is valued at 13/8 by bet365 while 888Sport is offering odds of 8/13 for over 2.5 goals.

Wolves have opened the scoring in their last two matches and could be backed to grab the first goal on Wednesday at evens with Coral. There were more goals after the break in the last meeting at Molineux and a similar pattern is valued at evens with Paddy Power.
