WEST Ham and Aston Villa will be looking to build on their strong start to the season when they square off at the London Stadium on Monday night.

Both clubs have exceeded expectations thus far, with just one place and one point separating the two teams in the Premier League standings after nine rounds of matches.

West Ham's pre-season was blighted with hostility, however, the Hammers have impressively navigated a very difficult fixture list to help lift the mood at the London Stadium.

David Moyes' men have lost just three of their last 13 top-flight tussles and come into this clash off the back of a hard-fought 1-0 win at Sheffield United last Sunday.

Aston Villa's promising start to the season can be attributed to their perfect away record – the Villains have triumphed in each of their three top-flight road trips to date.

However, Dean Smith's side have lost three of their last four league fixtures and they will be desperate to get back to winning ways after being on the wrong end of a 2-1 reverse at home to Brighton last time out.

Outright Betting

West Ham have avoided defeat in each of their last six home matches against Aston Villa and a Hammers success here pays 11/18 with PaddyPower, while a point apiece is priced up at 13/5 with Unibet.

Two of Aston Villa's three away wins this season have come in London, and a third consecutive Villa victory in the capital can be backed at 2/1 with Bet 365.

Betting Angles

This looks like a really tricky fixture to tackle from a betting perspective, therefore I'm once again going to head to Bet 365‘s Bet Builder feature to put together a same game multiple.

The 5/6 (Bet 365) combination that I like the look of for this capital clash is over one match goal, over five match corners and each team to collect over zero cards.

Six of Aston Villa's eight league matches this season have produced three or more goals and six of their last seven games away from home have featured three or more strikes.

What's more, seven of West Ham's nine top-flight tussles this term have seen at least two goals scored, and I like the look of a repeat in east London on Monday night.

It's also worth noting that Aston Villa are averaging 7.38 team corners per game this term- the highest tally in the division – and they also sit top of the table for match corners with an average of 11.13 being taken per outing.

With that in mind, I'm happy to add over five match corners to the recommended Bet Builder, but I'll also back both teams to pick up at least one card in what should be a closely-fought contest.

Both sides sit in the top-seven for cards received this season and referee Peter Bankes has averaged just under 44 booking points per game since the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

That line of thought could see value lie with the  5/6 on offer with Bet 365 for Aston Villa to collect over one card on Monday night – a bet that has banked in five of Villa's last seven Premier League assignments.
