Uruguay will be seeking their first win at Copa America when they face Chile in a Group A clash at Arena Pantanal. With both attacks failing to fire so far, this clash is likely to serve up a low scoring contest on Monday.

Uruguay began their campaign at Copa America with a 1-0 defeat to Argentina. They had a large chunk of the possession but lacked the cutting edge in attack with Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani struggling to get into the game.

La Celeste did not come into Copa America in good form after being held to 0-0 draws by Paraguay and Venezuela in World Cup qualifiers just before the start of the competition. They seem to have brought that poor form to Brazil and go into Monday’s clash seeking their first win in four matches.

Despite all their recent problems, Uruguay will still be hopeful of progressing from the group. However, a worrying factor for manager Oscar Tabarez will be the team’s lack of goals as they have now failed to score in their last four matches across all competitions.

Chile are finally off the mark at Copa America after claiming a 1-0 victory over Bolivia in their previous Group A fixture. An early effort from Ben Brereton proved to be the difference.

The victory was Chile’s first having drawn their previous three matches, including a 1-1 scoreline against Argentina in their opening fixture in Brazil. Sitting joint top with the Argentines in Group A, they look well on course to progress to the knockout phase.

The Chileans are playing the entire group phase without all-time top scorer Alexis Sanchez and have not looked particularly threatening going forward. They have failed to score more than one goal in their last four matches across all competitions.

How the bookies view it

Uruguay have been given the edge by the bookies with a win priced at 23/20 by betfair. SBK is offering 45/17 for a victory for Chile while a draw is set at odds of 27/10 by Vbet.

There is little to separate both teams at the moment as they look set to battle to a draw.

Head to head

Uruguay have a 9-5 advantage with four draws from 18 previous matches against Chile. The most recent meeting was a 2-1 victory for the Uruguayans in a World Cup qualifying fixture back in October.

Players to watch

While the Uruguayan attack has been misfiring lately, their defence has looked fairly solid with two clean sheets in their last three matches. Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez are expected to continue their partnership in central defence and will be hopeful of another clean sheet at 13/8 with bet365.

Chile will hope to take confidence from their clean sheet against Bolivia, which was their first in six matches. Gary Medal and Guillermo Maripan should once again start in central defence and will be hopeful of another shutout at 11/4 with Skybet.

Anything else catch the eye?

Uruguay and Chile have faltered in attack lately and with both teams also looking fairly solid at the back, there are likely to be few goals here. Under 2.5 goals is priced at odds of 5/7 by Sport Nation.

BTTS No could be backed at 9/10 with SBK while there are unlikely to be goals in both halves at 5/6 with Unibet.
