BOTH these sides emerged from troubled times with late midweek winners and it will give them a much-needed surge of belief and energy ahead of this showdown.

Few people gave Newcastle a prayer against Manchester City, especially after Pep Guardiola's men surged ahead inside the first minute, but they defied the odds to claim a shock 2-1 win.

Spurs, meanwhile, looked set for a third defeat in a row when they trailed against Watford with 10 minutes to go only to stage a storming fightback of their own.

I tipped tired Tottenham to draw their first league game of the season against the Hornets and it was looking good after Son Heung Min's leveller until Fernando Llorente popped up to grab the winner three minutes from time.

That could be a huge moment in Spurs' season, halting a slide that had seen them crash out of two cup competitions in just three days.

To stay on course for a top-three finish they need to follow it up with another victory against Newcastle but it won't be easy against a well-drilled Rafa Benitez side.

Tottenham are a best 4/9 with Sky Bet but try backing them to win after a level first half which stretches the odds to 7/2 with BetVictor.

Under 2.5 goals also looks a good shout at 17/6 with 188Bet while a one-goal winning margin for either side appeals at 9/5 with Betway.

It was Son, back from Asian Cup duty with South Korea, who turned the game against Watford. He should be fit enough to start again here and is worth a shout for either first scorer (15/4, Bet365) or anytime scorer (23/20, Betvictor)

Spurs still have a few key injuries, with Harry Kane and Dele Alli nowhere near a return, but the likes of Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela may start after coming off the bench in midweek. Winger Lamela is due a goal and looks a good option for anytime scorer at 11/5 with Unibet.

The arrival of £20million record signing Miguel Almiron will give Newcastle another huge boost, with defender Antonio Barreca also arriving on loan from Monaco on deadline day.

But Benitez should field the same side that shocked City and penalty hero Matt Ritchie looks their best option for a goal at 11/1 with 188Bet in the anytime scorer market.
