REAL MADRID were in poor form before lockdown and will be hoping to fly out of the traps when their La Liga title bid  restarts with the visit of Eibar.

A vital 2-0 win over Barcelona in El Clasico was Real's only victory in five games before football went into hibernation, with Levante, Manchester City and Real Betis dishing out defeats to Zinedine Zidane's men.

The loss to Betis in Seville would have stung the most as it came just a week after that triumph over Barca, allowing their great rivals to jump above them in the table.

But the Bernabeu men remain just two points off the summit and shouldn't have too much trouble seeing off Eibar as they bid to win the title for the first time since 2017.

Eibar are stuck at the wrong end of the table, sitting just two points above the drop zone, so this should be a comfortable win for Zidane's side if their attitude is right.

How the bookies view it

Lowly Eibar are rank outsiders with José Luis Mendilibar's men as big as 12/1 with Ladbrokes for a shock Bernabeu win. Even the draw is 11/2 with 888Sport while Real's best price is 5/19 with Sportingbet.

Zidane's side have only kept two clean sheets in their last six home games and both of those came in high-pressure showdowns against Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

That suggests they struggle for concentration against the lesser sides so a Real Madrid win with both teams to score might be the value bet here at 15/8 with Boylesports.

Recent head to head

Eibar have only beaten Real Madrid once in their 13 meetings but that came just last season when they claimed a stunning 3-0 victory at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium (below).

Their record at the Bernabeu is poor, with just a 1-1 draw in 2016 saving them from suffering defeat on every trip to Real's home.

It ended 2-1 to Real in Madrid last term while Zidane's side romped to a 4-0 victory in Eibar earlier this season.

Players to watch

Karim Benzema loves a goal against Eibar, netting doubles in his last two games against the Basque outfit. The Frenchman is just 2/3 with Ladbrokes for anytime scorer here but two or more goals for Benzema pays 16/5 with Betway.

Gareth Bale (below) had been a fitness doubt for Real but he has trained this week and the Welshman is in contention for a start here. He's 13/8 with Betway which is decent value if Zidane throws him in.

Eibar have midfielder Gonzalo Escalante suspended but most of their forwards should be fit to play. I'm drawn to veteran Chilean Fabian Orellana, who has netted three times in his last six games and is 6/1 with 888Sport for a goal.

Anything else catch the eye?

We've seen a few penalties in Germany since the Bundesliga's resumption with tired players often losing concentration and I cashed in by backing a spot-kick in Fortuna's game with Hoffenheim last weekend.

888Sport offer 9/5 on a penalty being awarded in this one which could be a good option.
