Real Madrid continue their march towards the La Liga title as they welcome Celta Vigo to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Los Blancos are often imperious at home and should be too strong for their struggling visitors.

Real Madrid have stumbled slightly in recent matches and head into Sunday’s clash off the back of two straight draws. First they were held 2-2 at Valencia last time out in La Liga before playing out a 1-1 scoreline with RB Leipzig in the Champions League round of 16.

The good news for Real Madrid is that those two results did not have any adverse effect on their current standing. They remain seven points clear at the top of La Liga after their closest rivals also dropped points and also progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Real Madrid will be banking on their record at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, where they are unbeaten all season. Carlo Ancelotti’s men have won eight of their last nine La Liga home matches, keeping clean sheets in the last two fixtures in that run.

Celta Vigo are coming off a 1-0 victory over Almeria in their previous La Liga fixture. Oscar Mingueza’s effort midway through the second half proved to be the difference in a closely fought encounter.

That was a vital result for Celta Vigo as it ended a run of three matches without a win. It also put some more daylight between themselves and the relegation zone as Rafael Benitez’s men are now five points above the bottom three.

Celta Vigo have done well on their recent travels, suffering just one defeat in their last six away matches across all competitions. They claimed three wins in that run but were held 2-2 by troubled Cadiz in their previous fixture on the road.

How the bookies view it

Real Madrid are considered overwhelming favourites with a home win priced at 3/10 by 10bet. An unlikely victory for Celta Vigo is valued at 10/1 by Coral while a draw is set at odds of 5/1 by bet365.

Head to head

Real Madrid have a 35-12 advantage with six draws from 53 previous matches against Celta Vigo. Los Blancos have also won the last seven meetings and claimed a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in August.

Players to watch

With leading scorer Jude Bellingham suspended, Real Madrid will look to Vinicius Junior to provide the spark in attack. The forward has seven goals in his last 10 La Liga matches and is priced at 6/5 by bet365 to maintain his scoring run.

Despite their defensive injuries, Real Madrid have managed to keep clean sheets in their last two home matches. Antonio Rudiger is expected to continue at centre-back and cloud lead Los Blancos to another clean sheet at 888Sport.
