RANGERS kick off a new era on Sunday with new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst for their Premier Sports Cup semi-final with Hibs, although he will take a watching brief from the Hampden stands.

A clash between these two clubs is always fascinating, but this one has extra spice due to the departure of Steven Gerrard – much to Rangers fans' frustration – to Aston Villa.

Added to this is just how Hibs will have been impacted by an enforced break that will see them go 26 days without a game by the time they line up at Hampden.

Both sides have been guilty of glaring flaws in their armour this season. For Rangers, their seemingly impregnable defensive abilities have been shattered this season and they do seem intent to make it hard for themselves – their last four wins have seen them go behind each time before coming back to win.

And Hibs are on a four-game losing streak and their break has probably come at the right time for them. However, manager Jack Ross will be desperate to end a perceived reputation of being a big-game bottler with a poor record in important matches.

How the bookies view it

Rangers are odds-on, as you would expect and they can be backed at 9/20 with BetVictor. The draw is a best-priced 7/2 with SBK and there will be plenty of Hibbees on bet365's 6/1 on them winning in 90 minutes.

Rangers are 2/9 to win the tie with bet365 and Hibs are 10/3 to reach the final with Betfred.

Recent head to heads

Rangers were a goal down at Ibrox this season to a comfortable Hibs before they had Ryan Porteous controversially sent off and the hosts went on to win 2-1 as can be seen below.

Hibs haven't beaten Rangers in the last 13 meetings between the clubs.

Players to watch

Kemar Roofe netted against Hibs the last time the sides met and is on ten goals for the season. He's 21/20 to score anytime at Hampden with McBookie.com

Everything Hibs do well goes through Martin Boyle, with the Australian international on 13 goals for the season. He's value at 3/1 with McBookie.com.

Anything else catch the eye?

A change of manager should make little difference to Rangers and the obvious call for this is the bet that has come up on so many occasions this season which is Rangers to win and both teams to score at 23/10 with William Hill.

Rangers seem to be incapable of keeping clean sheets and Boyle should be able to penetrate a leaky defence who have only managed three clean sheets in 13 league games this season.

And the old favourite of sworn enemies Ryan Porteous and Alfredo Morelos to be booked at a tasty 7/1 double with bet365 will see plenty of punters backing it.
