The Netherlands will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the UEFA Nations League as they travel to Poland for a Group A4 clash on Thursday.

Poland have found things difficult in Group A4 of the UNL and are playing catch-up to the Netherlands and Belgium. They have not won since a 2-1 victory over Wales in their opening fixture and are currently third on the table.

Sitting six points off the top of the standings, Poland are not expected to progress to the next stage of the UNL. However, with no wins in their last three matches, it is imperative that Czeslaw Michniewicz’s men rediscover their form ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Poland head into Thursday’s clash off the back of a 2-0 home defeat to Belgium in their previous UNL fixture. They fell behind early in the encounter and never really looked like getting back into the contest, finishing with just two attempts on target.

The Netherlands are the team to beat in Group A4 of the UEFA Nations League and are unbeaten in the competition. They are enjoying a new lease of life under manager Louis Van Gaal and are currently three points clear at the top of the group.

The Dutch are coming off a 3-2 victory over Wales in their previous UNL fixture. Goals from Cody Gakpo and Noa Lang gave them a 2-0 lead before Memphis Depay struck the winner deep into injury time.

One of the more impressive things about the Netherlands lately is their fine showing on the road. They have won their last three away matches in the UNL, beating Poland and Wales in that run, and also winning 4-1 in Belgium.

How the bookies view it

Netherlands have the upper hand among the bookies with a home win priced at 19/17 by SBK. A victory for Poland is valued at 5/2 by bet365 while a draw is also set at odds of 5/2 by Unibet.

Recent head to head

Poland and Netherlands played out a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture back in June. However, the Dutch have won the previous three meetings, including a 2-1 victory in Poland during the 2020 UEFA Nations League.

Players to watch

There is only one name to watch for Poland as everything appears to go through Robert Lewandowski. The striker comes into this one in good form with 11 goals in eight matches for Barcelona and is priced at 13/10 by Paddy Power to get on the score sheet.

Memphis Depay appears to always save his best for the Netherlands and has three goals in four UNL appearances so far. The striker was also on target on his last visit to Poland and is priced at 2/1 by Paddy Power to find the net on Thursday.

Anything else catch the eye?

Poland and Netherlands have struggled defensively in the competition and given the quality in both attacks; goals can be expected here. There were over 3.5 goals in the reverse fixture and a repeat is priced at 47/20 by Unibet who are also offering odds of 10/11 for over 2.5 goals.

There were second half goals for both teams in the reverse fixture and Thursday’s clash could be tipped to follow a similar pattern at 12/5 with William Hill.

This match between Poland and Netherlands will be played on Sep 22, 2022 and kick off at 19:45. Check below for our tipsters best Poland vs Netherlands prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
