TOTTENHAM will be aiming to continue their mini-revival when they square off with Newcastle at St James' Park on Wednesday evening.

The capital club fought back to put fierce rivals Arsenal to the sword on Sunday and subsequently Spurs moved into the top-eight where they will start the week just a mere two points behind sixth-placed Wolves.

To date, the Jose Mourinho era has been plagued with inconsistency, however, the self proclaimed “Special One” will be targeting a strong end to the season with Spurs almost back to a full complement of players.

Having said that, the Lilywhites achilles heel this season has been their dreadful away form – Tottenham have only managed to triumph in three of their 17 Premier League road trips to date.

Mourinho's men are back on their travels this midweek when they head north to face a Newcastle outfit who have exceeded expectations this season under the stewardship of the much-maligned Steve Bruce.

Indeed, the Magpies come into this clash having suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats away at Man City and Watford respectively, however, the Toon Army's place in the top-flight was all but secured with eight games remaining with boss Bruce quietly impressing while keeping many of his critics at bay.

Outright Betting

Newcastle, despite having avoided defeat in their last six Premier League games on home turf, are big outsiders at 4/1 with PaddyPower while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 11/4 with Bet 365.

Jose Mourinho has never won a Premier League match at St James' Park but the bookies expect his Tyneside hoodoo to come to an end on Wednesday evening with a Tottenham win trading at 3/4 with Bet 365.

Betting Angles

Collectively both of these teams racked up nine yellow cards between them across their respective weekend fixtures and I'm going to delve into the card markets at St James's Park on Wednesday evening.

Both sides sit in the top-ten in this season's disciplinary standings and I suspect this clash will be closely-fought and that it could prove to be a lot more competitive than what the betting suggests.

Each team to collect over one card takes appeal at 12/5 with Bet 365, however, I'm going to take a slightly more conservative approach by backing Newcastle to collect two or more cards at 4/5 (Bet 365).

The Magpies are averaging 1.7 cards per-game this term and I'm happy to back the home side to collect at least two cards in this contest given the superior attacking quality that Spurs possess in forward areas.

Mourinho has a wealth of attacking talent at his disposal, however, Tottenham's sustained bout of travel sickness makes them difficult to trust when faced with a Newcastle side who have fallen to defeat on only three occasions at St James' Park this season.

Having said that, I do fancy Spurs to get on the scoresheet on Wednesday evening and I'm going to back Harry Kane to rediscover his shooting boots in this bout when he comes up against a Newcastle backline that have registered just one clean sheet across their seven run-outs since the restart.

Kane will attract plenty of attention to score first at 7/2 with Bet 365, however, Spurs themselves have been shaky at the back this season and with that in mind it may be more shrewd to opt for the Tottenham talisman to strike anytime at 23/20 with BetVictor.

Indeed, Kane has failed to notch in his last three outings, however, he hit the post last time out and the England skipper looks enticingly priced at odds-against of 23/20 (BetVictor) to get back among the goals on Wednesday evening.

This match between Newcastle and Tottenham will be played on Jul 15, 2020 and kick off at 18:00. Check below for our tipsters best Newcastle vs Tottenham prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
