Netherlands are looking to maintain their 100% record in Group A4 of the UEFA Nations League as they host Poland on Saturday. The Poles are coming off a humiliating loss in Belgium and could be set for another disappointing outing against the Dutch.

Netherlands are setting the early pace in Group A4 of the UEFA Nations League and sit three points clear at the top. They have won their opening two matches in the competition, beginning with a 4-1 victory in Belgium before winning 2-1 in Wales on Wednesday.

Both results are an extension of Netherlands good form since last year’s European Championships. Louis Van Gaal’s men are unbeaten in their last 11 matches across all competitions, claiming eight wins in that run.

Another positive for Netherlands is that they were away in their opening two matches in the group and are returning home where they have claimed five wins and a draw from their last six matches. They have claimed some truly one-sided results in that run, including a 6-1 victory over Turkey and a 4-2 victory against Denmark.

Poland were humiliated in their previous UNL fixture as they suffered a 6-1 defeat in Belgium. They capitulated soon after Robert Lewandowski gave them the lead midway through the first half and were breached five times after the break.

It was a disappointing follow-up to Poland’s 2-1 home victory over Wales in their opening fixture in the Group. As it stands, they have now dropped to third on the table and playing catch up to the Belgians and Netherlands.

Poland have proved to be generally poor travellers in the UEFA Nations League with just one win from their last six away matches in the competition. Czeslaw Michniewicz’s men have lost three of their last four matches in that run, including a 1-0 defeat to Netherlands back in 2020.

How the bookies view it

Netherlands are overwhelming favourites among the bookies and are priced at 4/9 by SBK to claim the win. SBK are also offering 36/5 for a Poland victory while a draw is set at odds of 19/5 by Unibet.

Head to head

Netherlands have an 8-3 advantage with six draws from 17 previous matches against Poland. The Dutch have also won the last three meetings and did the double over their rivals in the last editon of the UNL, winning 1-0 at home before earning a 2-1 victory in Poland.

Players to watch

Memphis Depay is expected to return to the starting lineup for Netherlands after getting a rest last time out against Wales. The attacker netted a brace in the win over Belgium and could be backed to find the net on Saturday at 20/21 with bet365.

Robert Lewandowski is finally off the mark in the UNL, albeit in a humiliating defeat to Belgium. The striker remains the one to watch for Poland and is priced at 11/5 with Betfred to get on the score sheet on Saturday.

Anything else catch the eye?

Group A4 of the UNL has produced a few high scoring encounters and Saturday’s clash could be tipped to follow a similar pattern. Over 3.5 goals could be on the cards at 32/19 with SBK, who are also offering odds of 39/40 on both teams to score.

Given the minimal odds for a straight Netherlands victory, a win/goals double could be considered for more value with a home win and over 3.5 goals priced at 12/5 with Paddy Power.
