Turkey head into their final Group G fixture with a major chance of sealing automatic qualification to the Qatar 2022 World Cup. They face Montenegro, who are only playing for pride but will be looking to end their qualifying campaign on a positive note.

Montenegro are not in contention for even the playoffs but their draw with Netherlands last time out has opened up Group G of the World Cup qualifiers. They came from two goals down with efforts in the final eight minutes from Ilija Vukotic and Nikola Vujnovic earning them a share of the spoils.

Miodrag Radulovic’s men were generally hampered by a poor home record throughout the qualifiers which has seen them claim just one win from four matches on their own turf. They have also drawn their last two matches in front of their fans.

Defending has been a major problem for Montenegro, who have let in 13 goals in just nine qualifying matches. They have also conceded four goals in their last two matches in the qualifiers.

Turkey will be grateful to Montenegro for holding out against Netherlands and putting them back in contention for automatic qualification. They are now second in the group, two points off the pace and with the Dutch team facing Norway on Tuesday, there is a chance to finish top of the standings.

The Turks have been on the rise in recent matches and are unbeaten in their last three qualifiers. They have claimed two wins in that run, including a 6-0 triumph over Gibraltar in their previous qualifying fixture.

Stefan Kuntz’s men also have a solid record on their travels with three wins in their last four away matches in the qualifiers. Among their results in that run is a 3-0 victory in Norway while they also saw off Latvia 2-1 in their previous away fixture.
