MANCHESTER United and Wolves will meet for the fourth time this season when they go toe-to-toe at Old Trafford on Saturday teatime.

Both teams are getting to know each other pretty well following an FA Cup double-header earlier this month, with a late Juan Mata goal proving to be the difference at this venue just over a fortnight ago.

The Red Devils have since demonstrated the inconsistencies that have riddled their season after suffering back-to-back league defeats against Liverpool and Burnley respectively, before crashing out of the Carabao Cup, despite giving everything during Wednesday nights 1-0 victory at the Etihad .

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has since splashed a reported £68m on Sporting Lisbon attacking-midfielder Bruno Fernandes and the Portuguese star could play a part this weekend.

Wolves are level on points with United and the Wanderers continue prove to be a tough nut to crack for the “traditional top six”.

Nuno Espirto's Santo's side ran runway league leaders Liverpool mightily close at Molineux nine days ago and having not played since, the Old Gold will head up the M6 recharged and high in confidence.

The Betting Odds

Wolves are 13/5 with BetVictor to pick up their first win at Old Trafford in three decades, while a point apiece pays 23/10 with Bet 365.

Manchester United have won just half of their Premier League matches at Old Trafford this season, yet UniBet make the Red Devils 5/4 favourites to pick up their seventh home win of the campaign this weekend.

The Betting Angles

Wolves failed to breach United's backline in over 180 minutes in the FA Cup third round but I suspect that sequence will come to an end on Saturday evening.

Santo can turn to two of the most dangerous players in the division in the shape of Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez -two attackers who have the tools to trouble a Red Devils rearguard who have only registered one clean sheet in their last nine league games at home.

There is little value in backing a Wolves goal at 4/9 with William Hill, however, the 4/5 (Betfred) that is available for Wolves to score, two or more Wolves corners and 10+ Wolves booking points is a lot more enticing.

What's more, Wolves have made the net bulge in 10 of their last 11 top-flight road trips and with that in mind, the 5/6 (Bet 365) on offer for the away side to strike before the 67th minute takes appeal.

Indeed, Wolves have the worst first half record in the Premier League, however, they have hit the back of the net in five of their last six away days – all before the 67th minute – with the only exception coming against champions-elect Liverpool at Anfield.

However, Wolves have only won one of their last seven matches across all competitions, and although backing Wolves on the double chance looks reasonably priced at 4/6 with Bet 365, I'm going to opt for an alternative angle by combining under four match goals and each team to pick up at least one card at 4/5 (Bet 365)

The aforementioned combination has clicked in the last six meetings between these two teams and given United's heavy injury list and midweek exertions, coupled with Wolves slow starts to league games, I suspect another closely-fought contest will take place on Saturday evening.

This match between Manchester United and Wolves will be played on Feb 1, 2020 and kick off at 17:30. Check below for our tipsters best Manchester United vs Wolves prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
