MAN CITY landed the easiest draw of the last 16 and should ease through to the quarter-finals here after making hard work of the first leg.

Pep Guardiola's men trailed 2-1 at half-time in Gelsenkirchen after conceding a couple of disputed penalties but turned it around to grab a 3-2 win thanks to Raheem Sterling's last-gasp goal.

Schalke at least kept the margin of defeat lower than expected as they stumble their way through a truly dismal season.

Domenico Tedesco marked his first campaign as a Bundesliga manager by leading the club to second place last term and was hailed as one of the brightest young bosses in the European game.

It's been a swift fall from grace though with the Royal Blues languishing 14th in the league, just four points above the relegation play-off spot, with Tedesco at risk of the sack.

The Germans head to the Etihad on an awful run of form that's seen them loseĀ four on the spin, conceding at least three goals each time, and in the Bundesliga they've taken two points from the last 21 available.

City, meanwhile, have moved above Liverpool to top the Premier League and are still on track for the quadruple.

Aside from a 2-1 defeat at Newcastle and 0-0 draw in the Carling Cup Final – which they won on penalties – it's 16 wins from 18 for the Engish champs and they look set to steamroller the struggling Germans.

City are just 1-6 for the win so value has to be sought elsewhere and they ought to cover the -2 handicap at 11-10 with Betfair.

The hosts to win both halves also attracts at 21-20 with Marathonbet, as does City to be winning after half an hour at evens with Coral.

Sterling ended a barren three-game run since the Schalke game by netting a hat-trick in Saturday's 3-1 win over Watford and can strike again at evens with Ladbrokes.

Schalke have netted in eight of their last 10 away games and if you fancy them to bag a consolation here, City to win and both teams scoring pays 15-8 at Befair.

City won the corner count 9-2 in the first leg and should dominate on this front again. They've had nine and 13 corners in their last two home games and I'm on City -5 corners at 13-10 with bet365.

Two soft penalties were awarded in the first leg and VAR's intervention saw two awarded in last week's second-leg ties, so consider a spot-kick to be scored at 15-8 with Betfair.
