BAYERN MUNICH are looking unstoppable in their pursuit of their first Champions League crown in seven years.

Since resuming their campaign after lockdown, the Germans have pummelled Chelsea 4-1 to complete a 7-1 aggregate success before triggering the end of an era at Barcelona with an astonishing 8-2 quarter-final demolition.

On that form, the trophy is heading to Bavaria. Underdogs Lyon, though, have other ideas.

Having followed up their elimination of Juventus by stunning Manchester City 3-1 in the last eight at odds of 12-1, the French outfit are eyeing an even bigger scalp.

They were content to sit back and soak up pressure against Pep Guardiola's side before pouncing on the break and will look to deploy the same strategy in their latest one-off Lisbon showdown.

Keeping Bayern out will be easier said than done, though. Hans Flick's superstars secured their eighth consecutive Bundesliga title  in June with two games to spare, completing the double with German Cup glory the following month, and have won 19 matches in a row as well as 27 of their last 28.

Lyon, in contrast, finished seventh in the curtailed French top flight and their only hope of European football next season is by winning the Champions League.

At least the four-month break from competitive action served them well upon their return, however, as they showed plenty of stamina in dispatching City.

How do the bookies view it?

The bookies agree that Bayern look certs for the final. Betfred are best price 1-4 on the Germans winning in 90 minutes, while to make the final they are a miniscule 1-11 at Betway.

Lyon are a similar price to what they were in the previous round, with Unibet offering 23-2 on a French victory in normal time. The draw is 8-1 at bet365 and Lyon to qualify is the same price.

Betting angles

While victory looks beyond Lyon's capabilities, a goal doesn't, especially as Bayern conceded to both Chelsea and Barcelona while blowing them away.

So the first port of call is a Bayern win and both teams to net at 7-5 with Betway, while the Germans and over 3.5 goals should also land at odds against.

Flick's troops tend to be quick out of the blocks, adding weight to the 8-11 at Boylesports for a Bayern win at half-time and full-time.

Having netted in nine successive matches, contributing to a frankly ridiculous tally of 58 goals in 51 games for club and country this season, it's no surprise to see Robert Lewandowski heading the scorer market.

At just 4-11 though, there is no value in backing the Pole to get on the scoresheet, while to score first he is just 43-20 at Paddy Power.

For a bigger price, try the cards market where Lyon defender Leo Dubois is guaranteed a busy night trying to keep the opposition at bay.

Dubois was booked against both Juve and City, taking his yellow card haul to four in his last six apperances, and is worth backing at 3-1 with bet365 to again have his name taken.
