LIVINGSTON will be looking to get their Premier Sports Cup campaign back on track when they welcome Raith Rovers to the Tony Macaroni Arena on Wednesday night.

David Martindale's men brushed aside Brechin in their Group D opener before slumping to a shock 2-1 defeat at Alloa on Saturday.

That setback has left the Lions lying in third-place in the pool so there is no room for error when Raith Rovers come calling this midweek.

John McGlynn's men punched above their weight in the Scottish Championship last season and they have hit the ground running in Group D.

Rovers opened with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Fife rivals Cowdenbeath before romping to a 4-0 win over Brechin last Tuesday night.

That double success has left the Kirkcaldy club occupying top spot in the section ahead of their trip to West Lothian on Wednesday night.

Outright Betting

Unsurprisingly, Scottish Premiership hosts Livingston are heavily fancied here, with a home win trading at 1/2 with Bet 365.

Raith Rovers are 9/2 outsiders with William Hill while the stalemate is chalked up at 3/1 with the same firm.

Betting Angles

Top-tier Livingston are worthy favourites on Wednesday night but I suspect this Group D clash could be closer than the odds suggest.

David Martindale cut a frustrated figure in his post-match interview against Alloa, with the Livi chief making it clear that he is looking to bolster his squad before the Scottish Premiership season gets underway.

John McGlynn, on the other hand, has constructed a well-oiled machine at Starks Park and the Rovers boss looks to have done some shrewd business over the summer.

What's more, Rovers have laid some solid foundations for the season ahead, with encouraging displays against both Cowdenbeath and Brechin respectively.

Indeed, a a trip to the Tony Macaroni will represent a significant step up in class but I fancy the Kirkcaldy outfit to keep this cup tie competitive

I'll therefore head to William Hill‘s build Your Odds feature and combine over zero Raith Rovers goals and Raith Rovers with a + 2 start on the handicap, a nice looking 10/11 (William Hill) play.

I'll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market and take the 10/3 (Bet 365) on offer for Raith Rovers striker Lewis Vaughan to get on the scoresheet.

Vaughan, a talismanic figure for Rovers, has notched in each of Raith's two Premier Sports Cup outings so far and the in-form forward looks generously priced to repeat the trick at the Tony Macaroni this midweek.
