JURGEN Klopp's Liverpool juggernaut faltered at Old Trafford last weekend during a drab 1-1 draw with rivals Manchester United and the German will be keen to get his sides title charge back on track at Anfield on Sunday when Spurs march north to Merseyside.

A late Adam Lallana goal salvaged a point for Liverpool against the Red Devils on an afternoon where the Merseysiders were uncharacteristically lackluster, however, the Reds swiftly rediscovered their rhythm in Belgium on Wednesday night by cruising to a 4-1 win in Genk.

The latest round of Champions League fixtures also proved to be the perfect tonic for Tottenham who bludgeoned Red Star Belgrade when hitting five goals without reply – a much-needed shot in the arm for a Spurs side who have so often been out of sorts in recent weeks.

Tuesday nights five-star showing against the Serbians provided under-pressure Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino with only his third win in his last 12 attempts across all competitions.

The capital club have made a stuttering start to their Premier League campaign having won only three of their opening nine matches – and the Lilywhites labored start to the season can be attributed to their chronic form outside of north London.

The Londoners last league win on the road came way back in January and such a prolonged and sustained bout of travel sickness does not bode well for Spurs ahead of a trip to world renowned footballing fortress Anfield.

44 Premier League games have come and gone since Liverpool's last tasted defeat in their own backyard – a streak that stretches back to April 2017 – and the bookies don't envisage Spurs being the side to change that on Sunday with a home win odds-on at 8/15 (Betway)

Tottenham have failed to triumph in their last 10 leagues games away from home and that wretched run is expected to be extended this weekend with a rare Spurs away win available at big odds-against of 11/2 (UniBet) and a draw is also deemed unlikely at 18/5 (UniBet) with the same firm.

Since clashing with Liverpool in last season's Champions League final, Spurs appear to have suffered from a bit of an identity crisis.

The Reds ran out 2-0 winners when they conquered Europe for a sixth time last Summer and I fancy them to find the back of the net at least twice in this latest tussle with Tottenham.

Liverpool have scored two or more goals in all of their home games this season and that is reflected in the skinny 2/5 (Bet 365) on offer for a repeat on Sunday, however, combining 2 home goals with over 5.5 Liverpool corners boosts your odds up to 11/10 (PaddyPower) – a combination that catches the eye.

The Merseysiders have racked up six or more corners in all but one of their five home games thus far and given the firepower at Klopp's disposal, I like the look of the aforementioned goals and corner combo.

In considering who will get on the scoresheet in this showdown, a case could be made for anyone of the Reds famed front-three, and if pushed, I would plump for Sadio Mane.

The Senegalese forward grabbed his ninth goal of the season against Genk in midweek and five of his overall total have been scored in the Premier League.

It could be argued that Mane has took over from Mohamed Salah as Liverpool's talisman in the last 12 months and it's not often he is odds-against at 6/5 (UniBet) to score anytime at AnfieldĀ  – a price that is just a little too tempting to pass up on.

Yet, Liverpool' defence has not been as lean as it was last term – they have conceded in all of their home games this season – and Spurs' potent attack could add to the sequence on Sunday.

Both Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min will tempt plenty of punters in the anytime goalscorer markets at 19/10 (Unibet) and 10/3 (UniBet) respectively and backing both teams to score in Merseyside could once again generate profit, however, the odds of 13/20 (Betway) look a bit short.

With that in mind, backing Liverpool to win and both teams to score looks more attractive at 9/5 (BoyleSports) however, I'm going to opt for an alternative angle that has landed in all five of Liverpool's home matches this season so far and back a Reds win and over 2.5 match goals at 11/10 (BoyleSports)
