After having the California Clasico against San Jose Earthquakes rescheduled, LA Galaxy return to action with a home clash against Minnesota United. It has been an erratic campaign for the Galaxy so far but they appear to be doing better than Minnesota, who are expected to find things difficult on Thursday.

LA Galaxy were scheduled to face San Jose Earthquakes but the clash was postponed due to power outages at Stanford Stadium. As a result, their last game was a 2-1 defeat to Sacramento Republic in the US Open Cup.

Although manager Greg Vanney will be keen on a swift return to action and winning ways, the rescheduled fixture means they LA Galaxy will be well rested for the visit of Minnesota United. As it stands, they have lost just once in their last four matches across all competitions, claiming two wins in that run.

The good news for LA Galaxy is that the two wins in their recent run have come at the Dignity Health Sports Park. First, they beat local rivals and Western Conference leaders Los Angeles FC 3-1 in the US Open Cup before easing to a 4-1 victory over Austin FC in an MLS fixture.

Minnesota United are still looking to find their best form as they sit 12th in the Western Conference, just three points off the foot of the table. They have claimed just one win from their last eight MLS matches, losing eight times in that run.

Minnesota travel to Los Angeles off the back of three straight defeats, including a 2-1 loss to Inter Miami in their previous fixture. That result will be particularly disappointing for manager Aidan Heath as they led heading into the final three minutes through Luis Amarilla before conceding twice.

Minnesota United have also found things difficult on their travels and actually have one of the worst away records in the league. They have claimed just one win from their last six MLS matches on the road, suffering five defeats in that run.

LA Galaxy are considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies with a home win priced at 4/5 by William Hill. A victory for Minnesota United is valued at 3/1 by Coral while a draw is also set at odds of 3/1 by bet365.

Head to head

LA Galaxy have only lost once to Minnesota United, claiming six wins and four draws from 11 previous matches. However, the last two meetings have ended in draws, including a 1-1 scoreline in the reverse fixture back in May.
