IT'S only three weeks since the last Edinburgh derby but the capital foes face off again in what could be another explosive affair.

There were fireworks on and off the pitch at Tynecastle, with both sets of fans letting off flares and one punter even lobbing a coconut before Daryl Horgan's double sealed a thrilling 2-1 win for Hibs.

It was end-to-end stuff and great to watch after a series of dull derbies that offered little in the way of entertainment.

The last seven meetings between Hearts and Hibs had produced just eight goals so I was expecting another war of attrition.

But both teams scored inside the first half hour and it was the Hibees who nicked it after the break thanks to a stunning second goal from Horgan.

I flagged up the Irishman as Hibs' biggest threat before the last derby and he could make the difference again here. Horgan was superb in last weekend's 0-0 draw with champions Celtic and has been the main creative force for new boss Paul Heckingbottom.

The winger is a whopping 14/1 to break the deadlock here with McBookie and looks decent value at 9/2 in the anytime scorer market with the same firm.

The Hibees have gone nine games unbeaten in the Premiership since Heckingbottom took charge while Hearts have lost four of their last five league games.

Craig Levein's men were woeful last time out against Rangers so I'm backing Hibs to win here at 13/10 with Bet365. If you want to boost those odds further try doubling a home win with a clean sheet at 13/5 with Ladbrokes.

The feelgood factor at Easter Road continued earlier this week when defenders Darren McGregor and David Gray agreed new four-year deals. If you fancy one of them to celebrate with a derby goal they are 17/1 (Paddy Power) and 14/1 (Bet365) respectively in the anytime scorer market.

I'm not expecting this game to be as open as the last derby but the odds on under 2.5 goals are poor at a best 8/13 with Betfred. Instead try backing the first goal to come between 51 and 60 minutes, which is 11/1 at Bet365.

There has only been one penalty in the last five years of Edinburgh derby battle and that suggests it's time we had another. You can get 3/1 on either team scoring from the spot with Paddy Power and the odds increase to 5/1 for Hibs and 13/2 for Hearts.
