SCOTLAND joined France in qualifying for the Euros without kicking a ball on Sunday night and the Auld Alliance meet on Tuesday night in Lille.

Steve Clarke's side's deflation at their gut-wrenching defeat from Spain was forgotten about as the Spanish ensured Scotland booked their place at Germany with a comfortable 1-0 win in Oslo against Norway to spark off Tartan Army celebrations.

So there's little in the way of pressure when the teams meet tonight in another one of these UEFA-insistent friendlies that neither side are particularly fussed about.

But they don't come much tougher than an away game against the World Cup runners-up.

Both sides are likely to use their fringe players and it's a cold, hard fact that France's back-up players are at Europe's elite clubs.

They breezed through their qualification group which culminated in a 2-1 win in the Netherlands on Friday. It was the first goal they had conceded during the campaign.

They are probably the best team in Europe at the moment and it's a huge task for a Scotland side who must be shattered after putting that effort into the game.

How the bookies view it

Franceare strong favourites here at 2/7 with bet365. Scotland are 12/1 with Coral and the draw is 9/2 with McBookie.com.

Recent head to heads

There has never been a draw in 16 meetings between the nations and somewhat surprisingly the countries are tied at eight wins apiece.

France cruised to a 3-0 win in their pre-Euro 2016 friendly in what was the last meeting between the teams.

But Scotland famously beat France 1-0 home and away during their clashes in 2006 and 207 which included that famous James McFadden winner in Paris.

Players to watch

Assuming France captain and talisman Kylian Mbappe starts, he will be aiming for his 41st goal for his country after his double in Amsterdam. The PSG hitman is short however, at 4/6 to score anytime with bet365.

Scotland are likely to change things and a lively outside could be Bologna's Lewis Ferguson if he earns a rare start. He's been getting rave reviews for his performances in Italythis season and the former Aberdeen star loves a goal. He is 8/1 to score anytime with McBookie.com.

Anything else catch the eye?

This is about as tough as it comes for Scotland and although they will measure their recent progress in Lillle you get the impression they would be happy enough to escape with a damage limitation narrow defeat.

France actually lost their last friendly to Germany, but they look far too classy for a Scotland team that must still be hurting from their Seville exploits, despite the boost they will have received for qualifying.

The obvious call here is a France win to nil at 17/20 with McBookie.com.

France don;t usually go goal crazy – they only beat a poor Ireland team 1-0 and 2-0 and Greece 1-0. So go for a home win and under 2.5 goals at 5/2 with bet365.
