Espanyol went into the international break in good form and will be looking to pick up from where they left off when they host Cadiz in a Monday night La Liga fixture. The Catalans have done their best work at home and should have the edge over struggling Cadiz.

Espanyol are coming off an impressive 2-1 victory over Real Madrid last time out. They took a two-goal lead through Raul de Tomas and Aleix Vidal and despite conceding midway through the second half, were able to hold on for the win.

After failing to secure a win in their opening five matches, Espanyol appear to be getting their season back on track. Vincente Moreno’s men have won two of their last three matches and are just three points off the top 10.

Espanyol often do their best work at home with both their wins this season coming at the RCDE Stadium. They remain suspect at the back however, and have conceded in five of their last six La Liga matches.

Cadiz travel to Espanyol off the back of a 0-0 draw with Valencia last time out in La Liga. They managed only one attempt on target but were resolute in defence, fending off several attacks from the visitors.

Alvaro Cervera’s men have found things difficult this season, claiming just one win from their opening eight matches. They are currently on a three-match winless run and were beaten 3-1 by Rayo Vallecano in their previous away fixture.

Cadiz have struggled in attack and are among the lowest scorers in La Liga this season. They have also failed to find the net in two of their last three matches.

How the bookies view it

Espanyol have the edge among the bookies at 7/10 with novibet while a victory for Cadiz is priced at 24/5 with SBK. A draw is set at odds of 45/16 by Vbet.

Head to head

Espanyol and Cadiz have faced each other eight times before with both teams claiming four wins each. Both teams met in a friendly in June that saw Espanyol run out 2-0 winners.

Players to watch

Raul de Tomas is the top scorer for Espanyol with three goals and also scored the opener in the win over Real Madrid. The striker is priced at 13/10 with bet365 while the first goal could also be considered at 13/5 with Paddy Power.

Cadiz have been unconvincing going forward but veteran striker Alvaro Negredo often leads the line and could be worth keeping an eye on to score anytime at 4/1 with betfair.

Anything else catch the eye?

Espanyol scored in both halves last time out against Real Madrid and could be set for a repeat at 21/10 with BoyleSport. They have also seen over 2.5 goals in two of their last three matches and Monday’s clash could be tipped to produce a similar outcome at 13/10 with SBK.

There have been more goals after the break in Espanyol’s last three home matches so the second half can be tipped as the highest scoring half at 6/5 with Paddy Power.
