CELTIC will have to pick themselves up from another disappointing Champions League night when Hibernian come calling for a tricky clash in the SPFL Premiership.

Ange Postecoglou's side saw their hopes of reaching the last 16 disappear in midweek as RB Leipzig won 2-0 at Parkhead, with our man Slips Tips cashing in by backing the Germans to get some joy.

It was a familiar night of frustration for Hoops fans, with Celtic missing a series of an excellent chances before losing concentration at the back, just as they had done in Leipzig and at home to Real Madrid.

Premiership performances have been poor in the wake of Champions League games so far, with Celtic losing 2-0 at St Mirren then needing a last-gasp strike from Giorgos Giakoumakis to salvage a 2-1 win at St Johnstone.

So Postecoglou's players will need to rouse themselves for the visit of a Hibs side that had hit a rich vein of form before losing 1-0 at Dundee United in midweek.

Lee Johnson's men had won four in a row before that trip to Tannadice and Hibernian have the firepower to hurt a Hoops defence that has conceded in their last six matches.

How the bookies view it

Despite their patchy form, Celtic remain odds-on favourites for this one at a best 1/4 with BoyleSports while Hibernian are as big as 12/1 at Bet365. Even the draw is priced at a generous 11/2 by Betway.

Recent head to head

Celtic are unbeaten in their last 14 matches against Hibs but six of those matches have ended in draws, including a 0-0 stalemate when they last met at Easter Road in February. The Hoops have won just once in their last four visits to Leith but Hibernian haven't claimed a win at Celtic Park since way back in 2010.

Players to watch

Sead Haksabanovic has caught the eye for Celtic in the last couple of games and looks to be at full fitness now. The Montenegrin is 9/4 with William Hill to grab his first Hoops goal here but might be better value for an assist once that market is priced up.

Martin Boyle's pace could cause Celtic problems during transitions and the Australian international looks their best bet for a goal. He's 5/1 at William Hill for anytime scorer which looks a bit overpriced.

Anything else catch the eye?

I cashed in by backing BTTS in Celtic's last Premiership game at St Johnstone and I'm tempted by it again here, even though that bet has landed in just one of the last six matches for Hibs. It pays a best 11/10 with QuinnBet while betting against BTTS is just 41/50 at Unibet.

Postecoglou's side are always worth backing the corner handicap and Celtic -4 pays 11/10 with BetVictor for this one, which looks good value for a home game.

Joe Newell collected 11 yellows and two reds for Hibernian last season but has only been carded once in the new campaign. That suggests he's due a card and that bet pays 2/1 with Bet365.

This match between Celtic and Hibernian will be played on Oct 15, 2022 and kick off at 15:00. Check below for our tipsters best Celtic vs Hibernian prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
