Brisbane Roar host Western United in an A-League fixture at the Moreton Daily Stadium. Both teams are vying for a place in the final series playoff but Western United have been poor on the road and should find things difficult against Brisbane.

Goalkeeper Jamie Young was the hero as Brisbane Roar played out a 0-0 draw against Wellington Phoenix last time out in the A-League. He made a string of fine saves late in the contest to ensure Brisbane earned a share of the spoils.

A win would have taken Brisbane into the final series playoff but as it stands, they sit just outside the top six. They are one point behind sixth place Western United and could leapfrog their opponents with a win on Wednesday.

Warren Moon’s men have been in good form lately with three wins from their last four matches. However, they often struggle to keep things tight at the back and have conceded in nine of their last 11 home matches.

Western United also played out a 0-0 draw against Adelaide United in their previous A-League fixture. They played much of the contest with 10 men following Victor Sanchez’s sending off and put up a resilient defensive display to earn the point.

United have been erratic in recent weeks and travel to the Moreton Daily Stadium with just two wins in their last five matches. They are sixth on the table and will need to find some consistency to hold on to their spot in the final series playoff.

Mark Rudan will be worried about his team’s form on the road having claimed just one win in their last five away matches. They lost 2-0 to Sydney FC while a 3-2 defeat against Wellington Phoenix is also among their results in that run.

Western United’s poor away form means I am backing Brisbane to claim the win here.
