BRENTFORD gained a place this week without kicking a ball in the battle for Premier League survival. But they desperately need to gain a win on the pitch when doomed Sheffield United visit.

Everton's latest points deduction meant the Bees rose above them from 16th to 15th and gave them extra security in an increasingly precarious run-in.

They have a four point cushion on Luton Town in third bottom, but they just cannot buy a win at the moment and have won one league game since the middle of January.

But there have been plenty of encouraging signs. They have drawn their last three games and considering they were at home to Manchester United and Brighton and at Champions League hopefuls Aston Villa, that's not a bad return at all.

And they can be comforted by the fact they have none of the top seven to play before the end of the season.

Sheffield United require footballing snookers to stay up and when you win three league games out of 31 that's usually what happens.

The Blades are nine points from safety albeit with a game in hand and by a curious coincidence, their last win was also on February 10.

They've drawn three of their last four games though and lost at Liverpool so the penny has dropped…just far, far too late for them.

Anything else catch the eye?

Sheffield United are going down fighting and that should mean goals at both ends. But Brentford are the better side and are long overdue that elusive win.

The call is a home win and both teams to score at 7/4 with William Hill.

There have been 24 goals in Sheffield United's last five games and that should continue here against a Brentford side who shared six goals at Villa last week.

Back both teams to score in the first half at 16/5 with Coral. It's a bet that's come up in plenty games recently when teams have to go for it.
