Brentford and Leeds United square off in a Premier League fixture on Saturday as they seek an upturn in fortunes. Both teams have not been at their best lately and look evenly matched heading into this one.

Brentford have endured a mixed start to the season despite suffering just one defeat in their opening five fixture matches. They are still seeking a follow up to the 4-0 victory over Manchester United having been held to three draws already.

One of those draws came in their previous Premier League fixture as they played out a 1-1 scoreline with Crystal Palace on Tuesday. They fell behind just after the restart and had to wait until two minutes from time before Yoane Wissa struck the equaliser.

One of the problems for Brentford this season is a leaky defence that has kept just one clean sheet in their five Premier League matches. Thomas Frank’s men also tend to start on the back foot and have been forced to come from behind in four of their five matches.

Leeds United have also suffered just one defeat in their opening five Premier League matches, although their start to the season has been slightly better than Brentford’s. The difference is that they have claimed two wins so far, including an impressive 3-0 victory over Chelsea.

However, Leeds United appear to be losing their way slightly as they travel to Brentford winless in their last two matches. First, they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Brighton before Luis Sinisterra’s first goal for the club earned them a 1-1 draw against Everton.

One similarity with Brentford is that Leeds United have also struggled to maintain their discipline at the back. Jesse Marsch’s men have kept just one clean sheet this season and have also conceded first in their last two matches.

How the bookies view it

Brentford have the edge among the bookies with a home win priced at 22/19 by SBK. A victory for Leeds United is valued at 5/2 with Betfred while a draw is set at odds of 12/5 by BoyleSports.

Recent head to head

Leeds United are unbeaten in five of their last six meetings with Brentford, although there are three draws in that run. They claimed a 2-1 victory on their last visit to the Brentford Community Stadium back in May.

Players to watch

As always, Ivan Toney will be the one to watch for Brentford as he looks to add to his two Premier League goals this season. BetVictor has the striker at odds of 7/5 to find the net on Saturday.

Top scorer Rodrigo is likely to miss Saturday’s clash which means Luis Sinisterra could make only his second start for Leeds United. The Colombian attacker opened his account for the club last time out and could be backed at 41/10 by SBK to get on the score sheet on Saturday.

Anything else catch the eye?

Brentford and Leeds United tend to make slow starts and with both teams often coming to life after the break, they could be backed to score in the second half at 2/1 with William Hill. This means the second half could also be tipped to produce the most goals at evens with Paddy Power.

With Saturday’s clash expected to be a thrilling encounter, over 2.5 goals could be considered at 3/4 with Unibet, who are also offering odds of 19/10 for over 3.5 goals.
