BELGIUM begin their World Cup qualifying campaign with a home match against Wales on Wednesday night.

Roberto Martinez's star-studded side are ranked as the number one team in the world by Fifa and they are heavily fancied to brush aside all before them in Group E.

The Red Devils racked up 10 wins on the spins when qualifying for Euro 2020 and they finished above both Denmark and England in the most recent edition of the Nations League.

Martinez will now be looking to steer Belgium's big red machine to yet another win when Wales come calling this midweek.

After rubber-stamping their ticket to this Summer's Euro's, Wales, like Belgium, then went on to top their Nations League section.

Rob Page will continue to lead Wales in the absence of Ryan Giggs, on a night where the Dragons face a daunting start to their World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign.

Outright Betting

Belgium are unbeaten at home since September 2016 and the hosts are red-hot favourites here at 2/7 with TonyBet.

Wales have avoided defeat in each of their last four encounters with Belgium but the visitors are the unfancied underdogs here a whopping 12/1 with William Hill and the stalemate pays 9/2 with the same firm.

Betting Angles

The bookmaker's prices for this match unsurprisingly suggest that this will be a one-sided affair but backing the hosts to overcome a -1.5 start on the asian handicap could be the way to go at 101/100 with Bet 365.

Here we would require Belgium to win the game by a two goal winning-margin, a handicap that Martinez's men have overcome in each of their last eight matches when playing on home soil.

In fact, Belgium made the net bulge an eye-watering 40 times in qualifying for Euro 2020, not to mention they have scored two or more goals in 15 of their last 16 international assignments.

Indeed, Wales are a difficult side to breakdown – 10 of their last 11 matches have gone under 2.5 goals – but Belgium boast some of the most talented players on the planet and I suspect the hosts will have too much firepower for the Dragons on Wednesday night.

With that in mind, coupled with Belgium's aforementioned imperious home record, I'll happily back the hosts with a -1.5 start on the asian handicap on Wednesday night.

I'll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market and take the 20/21 on offer with Bet 365 for Romelu Lukaku to get on the scoresheet.

The brilliant Belgian is looking unplayable at the moment and after recently notching up an incredible career haul of 300 goals, I'll happily back the in-form Inter hitman to add to that tally this midweek.

What's more, Lukaku has banged in five goals across his last three appearances for Belgium so I'm more than happy to get on board with another Lukaku strike at 20/21 on Wednesday night.

This match between Belgium and Wales will be played on Mar 24, 2021 and kick off at 19:45. Check below for our tipsters best Belgium vs Wales prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
